LOL, I'm hearing that. A couple of ideas:
1 (The Carrot). Build the trip into an overnight package with dinner and drinks.
2 (The Stick). Inform him that you're going anyway, and that the big boats look tempting.
So far I'm messing around with 1

So who did I meet today? Avocet introduced himself and his lady.
Had a great day out, perfect ribcraft testing conditions, sun and wind. Fantastic day out and fantastic boats.

Oh no, didn't think to take any pictures... did anyone else ?
Was a good day although I now have another bruise... maybe I'm too accident prone to be allowed on these things!
Oh, and met Maximus, which was cool

Hehe yep I want the big one !! Thought it was the 6.8 that we were in first, I didn't try anything bigger as I'm not great with temptation.... don't tell me it's actually a 7.8 that I'm now lusting after !
Bruise is from the 5.8, took that as a sign I don't want one now
(Being a bit of a drama queen though - it's barely visible - banged my chin on the steering wheel)
Bouncy seat man was cool - is that anyone on here ? He's been all the way - or at least most of the way - round Britain in that little 4.8 with his mate and his bouncy seats.

You know what they say....''Be carefull what you wish for''!.. I'm sure the 6.8 would be addiquate in MOST situation!,just me looseing it in the ''Heady mix'' of Fly by wire,50cm Touch screen plotters, Auto pilots, and Ulmans!!!! A bit of ''Lust fest'' for sure, BOTH cracking RIBS though, have you been working on the Old man??

I was on the 5.8 with you Shaz. They were some pretty steep close waves to be hammering up. I was loving it on the back seat
I fell in love with the 6.4. simple, spartiate and lively. Just what I like. The advantage of going to these guys though is the possibility of getting each boat how you want it.

Was that you - sorry didn't realise, hello !
The conditions can't have changed that much in between the first and second trips though... can they ? I know the guys were saying the tide had gone out which was making the waves steeper but surprised it made it that much difference. It can't have been more than 20 minutes in between trips.

A longer boat will always have an advantage in the rough, especially when they are based on the same hull design. You couldn't really have expected the boat to do much more. They were not usual cruising conditions.

That's the thing I was interested in - but think it may have been a bit unfair on the 5.8 because of the change in conditions.
Anyway it was fun.
I do have a question for any real Ribcraft geeks: what year did they change the screen / grab rail design ? On older ones, there's a really small gap between them which you can trap your fingers in, on the new ones there is a sensible sized gap so you can actually use the grab rail.

Screen change
The pacific and offshore console screen was modified about 2 .5 years ago

Another inovation/option I liked was the fact that that the consuls on a few of the Ribs were cut down i.e at different hieghts. This I found made a real difference.Something to definately consider when Rigging your new boat Shaz!

A boat with a "midget" console it going to restrict your eventual resale market somewhat, just as one with a giant console would. Surprised that none of the high end ribs have ajustable wheel/console height/angle a bit like car steering wheels.
