Thanks - knew someone would know

I'm not a midget... just need to get used to these things .... although it could be something to consider if I had the funds for a brand new boat.

Not that a used 6m+, less than 2 years old is hugely budget friendly but it's all useful info !

Tilt helms

Tilt helms are available but they have not really taken off in the UK
The fat yanks love them on the bowriders something to do with getting in and out of the sofas they sit in.
The tilt helms feel a little bit wobbly take a look at TFX websites and the seastar tilt helms online

Yeah I had one on my last 8.5m .. The angle of variance was about 30 degrees as I remember which actually was pretty useless on a top angle mount console .. and it developed an annoying squeak that WD40 could not cure, I think I had a mouse living inside the rubber boot

[QUOTE=Polwart;374838] A boat with a "midget" console it going to restrict your eventual resale market somewhat, just as one with a giant console would. Surprised that none of the high end ribs have ajustable wheel/console height/angle a bit like car steering wheels. [/QUOTE Where did 'Midget' consul come from???... The Paciffic, and Ocean consuls are both DESIGNED to to 'Custom' mounted both in terms of layout..AND Hieght! Being 6' myself I definatley prefered the Ocean consul a few inches shorter than maximum for a variety of reasons. In my EXPERIANCE a realy good idea, and yet another PLUSS for an inhouse designed, and Tailormade product like a Ribcraft Rib

It's a very good idea by their marketing people. Let the customer have exactly what they want, they will then be reluctant to sell, but when they do want an upgrade or their needs change they will have got used to all the little quirks of 'their' design and will have to buy another brand new one, rather than one they know has been designed for someone else.

Cynicism not intended in a bad way - I still want one ! (although been told I should have a go in a Vipermax just for a fair experiment of course)

I would always say to try as many Ribs[and layouts] as poss Shaz, and 'Osprey' are amongst the Rib manufacturers I have tried, and DO like.
