Ribcraft Yellow Gelcoat RAL Code

Morning Folks,

Am needing to make a few repairs to the gelcoat on my beast, it is that damn fine "sunflower yellow" gelcoat (someone has to have it!). Whilst I can get the gelcoat from Ribcraft for the princely sum of £21.54, east coast glassfibre do a cracking little kit with all the gubbins you could possibly need and then some for £17.94, but I need the RAL code for the gel. Any clues as to what that code is? I am down there this weekend so if no one knows I will take a RAL chart with me and try and match it.

Cheers!

Rob

Sunflower Yellow appears to be the name of a British Standard Colour rather than a RAL Colour? Known as 10 E 53

going via CMYK as a middle man there doesnt appear to be a direct match?

Thanks for the reply there, you may well be right. I will offer up the ral chart this weekend and see if there is a close-ish match. Fortunately the area to repair is below the waterline on the transom so a close as is poss match will suffice! Appreciate the input.

I know it's a few squid but I just like the fact that east coast fibreglass will provide everything you need, acetone, syringes(!), all the grades of paper, wax, film, pots, compound, gelcoat etc etc etc, proper one stop shop! Don't fret I do like to do a proper job, I think you'll always be on a hiding to nothing trying to match pigmented gel anyhow. Not to mention I have partial colour blindness, could be interesting!

Assuming you have white gel some palce else, I'd get a white kit from east coast and the correct colour from rib craft. Then keep the white for the future.

Or you could try asking EC for the kit without the gel? They are decent guys.

A better idea would be to try getting just the pigment from Ribcraft, and get a clear gel kit. You'll end up with enough gel to keep you going for a LONG time.
