RIBEX

Who's going to the RIB exhibition in Southampton next weekend?

I plan to go by sea on Saturday (assuming that I've got a new turbo for Phoenix by then . Anybody fancy meeting up for a pint?

John

John,

Definately planning to go to RIBEX, albeit probably by car rather than boat! My plan is to take the boat down to the Solent and go to RIBEX one day and boating t'other. Not sure which way round at this point but meeting up for a pint sounds like a splendid idea!

Talk later on in the week?

I definitely won't be around on Sunday, but it's looking good for Saturday. I've been promised the turbo back later today, so Phoenix should be back on the water in time.

Post a message here when you know what you're doing and we'll sort something out.

Can someone let me know details of times/ venue for RIBEX, or alternatively a web page address.

Thanks.

John,

Looks like I will be boating Sat and going to RIBEX Sunday. We should be out and about on the Solent Sat PM so our paths might cross! Boat is a Yellow BWM DS 21 called "Yellow Tang" I'll keep an eye out for you. (I know what Phoenix looks like!)

Cheers,
Alan

OK so I didn't make it to RIBEX in the end.

Was it good? I did want to see the demonstration of MDL dropping a RIB fom the crane (an interesting way of promoting their services I thought!)

I went up to the RIBex on Sunday...not only was there loads to see, but the weather was also superb as well.

Ocean Village suited the exhibition quite well, but unfortunately demonstrations were fairly limited due to the strict speed restrictions...then again I did see some of the Ocean Dynamic jet RIBs pulling doing some pretty good doughnuts in the middle of the marina.

The drop test I saw was good, though I think they were planning to push their final drop to the limits as they hoisted the ribtec an extra 15-20 ft...and the crash it made when it hit the water said it all!! When it came out the water the hull was cracked almost the whole way across!!

Looking forward to next year already!!

Eventually made it to RIBEX late on Sunday after spending the morning replacing a wheel bearing on the trailer which failed on us Saturday night! Was a little disapointed with RIBEX must confess, some nice boats there - didn't have a chance to get out in any - but not really worth the £4.50 entry I felt.
Still the weather was great, Saturday too. Sat outside at the Folly Inn enjoying a beer and the sun. Sheer bliss!
