Ribex

Does Ribex still happen?
Alternatively, is there another powerboat and rib show?

I can't find anything online!

You'll see about 100 ribs on round Isle of Wight for Macmillan in July which will have manufacturers there.

So what happened to Ribex? It just seems to have vanished. I looked a couple of months ago as I was originally going to be over the the UK next month, and have always wanted to go to it or something similar.

RIBase
Due to the planning of Round Ireland two years ago HMS didn't get round to doing RIBEX and I presume the same thing happened last year with Round Britain which he didn't even attend in the end!

I understand the last edition held in Gunwharf was much more succesful than they have been on the IOW for the last few years so I imagine there will be some appetite to restart it at some point. Bear in mind of course that RIB international is no longer just for ribs......

I miss Ribex being in Cowes, seemed like a good day out visiting IOW like a destination in itself, went to Gunwarf a couple of times and didnt think it improved the event rather the reverse.

I guess its all down to money in the end, if more people around then more oppourtunity for the stall holders.

Poole would be a good venue, used to be a small boat show at Salterns which was good but not happenning this year due to timing with another show happenning in Poole Quay.

Went to a small show on sunday at Portland Marina which was pretty fun.

Southampton boat show is the main one, worth a full day if you can stand the crowds.

How many people here:

(a) Bought a boat as a direct result of RIBex (either right at the show or a short time after).
(b) Been significantly influenced in a buying decision by what they saw / trialed at RIBex.

Ribex

I've done ribex, in the early days, Weymouth, was pretty good, IOW was not bad, but you could see it getting progressively less well attended, I was showing the rib in the I O W in 2005, wasn't very well attended so the organiser went up the high street giving away tickets, we had people there with bags of shopping, dogs, screaming kids, you name it, that did it for me, never showed again, it's hard to sell at shows, too many interruptions

From a visitors point of view they were the complete opposite I'm afraid.
