Looks like the ol' seaweed has let you down again, Pete.
Mark One eyeball tends to work quite well. If you look at the sky, big black clouds mean one of 2 things - either it's going to hiss down or Old Spice is out on the water again.

Hi Boy's & Girl's
I have just got back from the show, and what a day it has been.
The weather held all morning right up until 3pm. Then the heavens opened and everyone headed straight for the bar I told you pete 4 pm was not too early
Still plenty of time to get across, don't be put off by the weather 2 boats arrived today from Holland via the North Sea!!! No excuses.
See you all soon.

My day tomorrow: get up, revise, get on ferry, revise on ferry, RIBex , revise at RIBex , get on ferry, revise, eat, sleep.
I think I'm going to head over early ( ) and see how long I will stay around. Who else is around tomorrow? To all those on stands (Tim, Cookee...anyone else?), I will say hi.
Tim

I had a great time at RIBEX yesterday,an exciting trip down from Lymington(thanks Bruce),and a.very interesting tour from Cookee of the Bananashark race and leisure boats.
Andre took me out on the impressive Parker 750,I felt it handled well, gave a good ride in the choppy conditions off Cowes, and I was very impressed with the Verado engine, very quiet even at high speed but what struck me was the total lack of vibration,it was strange and I can only equate it to when I have been in a boat under tow,the feeling of moving through the water with little sound or vibration hinting at the reason for the forward progress.
I also went out in the Hydrosport 6.5 and was impressed.
It seemed quite quick with 115 2 stoke evinrude and a good ride through the chop.I have been told that a stepped hull will give some strange cornering characteristics but I tried some hard turns and the hull gripped well, the limiting factor being the grip of the prop on the water.

Amsterdam-Cowes Ribex 2005
Hey everyone.
We are very glad that we have made it in one piece. Took us 17 hours from Amsterdam to Cowes and the trip was fantastic.
Mailing now from the hotel in Cowes.
We have met Louise, Richard, Andre and some others and have to say that english people are very kind.
We are having a great time at the pubs and really loved the show. Don't think you can find so many bautifull ribs in any place else.
Have been out in a ballistic with 300 hp, and we were also going ballsitic, what a fantastic boat.
We will be heading back next mondaynight when the wind will slow down a bit.
Cheers,
Danny.

Hi Danny
was that you we met whilst refuelling at Cowes on saturday morning. We had the 8m and 6.5m humbers there and we had a chat as one of you put the equivalent of a years output from an oil rig into your boat. One of you still had the blue camping cover on your boat and the car "top box" fixed to the A frame.

Hi Danny,
It was really good to meet up with you guys (and Mark and crew also from Holland). I really take my hat off to you all, travelling by sea to RIBex! Hope you all have a safe journey home and I'll be hoping there are no thunder storms for your return journeys!
Hope to you again - at next year's RIBex, if not before!
Edit: good to meet you Dave (Wavelength) too!

Hi again Danny,
Hope this isn't too late for you!
The following harbours have no tidal restrictions (distances are from Cowes):
Shoreham - 47 nautical miles
Brighton - 50 nm (& has quayside petrol)
Newhaven - 55 nm
Eastbourne - 66 nm (& has petrol in Sovereign Marina, accessed through a lock)
Dover - 112
www.s-h-systems.co.uk is a useful site for finding hotels and bed & breakfast accommodation.
Hope this helps!

No, that were the other ones that started of from Gravelines, France.
They have bigger boats. We came by a 5 m. and a 5.6 m rib.
But yes, I was a bit worried about the picture on the wall on the fueldock wich said that no cans could be filled.
We have filled 550 liters with two boats.
We got home just this evening and left Cowes on Monday.
23 hours with some really *&@$@ winds.
So that's 1200 kilometers in total 40 hours.
That's really a lot for these size of boats. Believe me.
Will post some pics tommorow or the day after, just as soon as everything stops shaking around me.
See ya,
Danny.
