Just reread your original post when you were looking at a tired 2004 Ribeye 6.5m. You dodged a bullet on that. It had already been retubed and the upholstery revealed it’s been out in the elements it’s entire life.
I know nowt about the Ribeye A500, other than the new ones weigh 824kg. Jeez, that teak flooring must weigh a tonne. Please tell me that includes the engine, which incidentally is up to 80hp.
So these boats are basically luxury tender territory. A 2018 model will set you back easily £30k+.
I do like the layout, side by side jockeys and a rear bench. My understanding is they are PVC, that said, well maintained, under cover, easily see 15 years+.
I wouldn’t be swayed because the current owner or yard say the Snipe trailer will come with serviced hubs and tyres. That’s basically saying it’s safe to haul and you won’t find yourself on the hard shoulder of the M62 within 5 minutes after purchase. That’s a relatively easy fix if your spanner handy and not a deal breaker, but yes you want it done prior to towing.
Condition is critical, as is paperwork to back up its history. Has this been a dry berth stacked rib, hence the repairs to the trailer given it’s maybe been laid up somewhere? Engine, electrics and general feel. If it checks out, that’s a fair price, but this will be an older boat.
Also consider the Ribcraft 5.3m. Hypalon tubes, side by side jockeys, but kind of scarce and probably a little more utilitarian than you’re looking for.
