Ribeye or Cobra

I’m after some advice....

I’m looking into getting a ribeye 785 or cobra 7.5 around 2003 so an older one, I like the look of them both but can’t decide which one to go for!

I’d be using it for family days out wakeboard kneeboard and toying inflatables.

Thank you

RIBase
IMHO one is a toy, the other a proper boat - both will work thou. The Cobra has a great 'family' layout and will take you through some rough stuff with ease. I'm probably biased and others will have opinions.

Nothing whatsoever wrong with either of your choices for the usage that you have in mind. As long as the layout works for you and your family.

For what you want to do I would say Cobra, I have had a 7.5M Cobra for 11 years and very happy with it. The layout and storage space is very good and can handle the rough stuff better than I can. The forward bow seating is great for laying out on, reading a book or just chilling. The rear seating is good for families and comfortable. Plenty of decent hand rails when walking about the boat. Good dry storage area's. Decent A Frames with towing attachement.

The age your looking for would probably be a picton built cobra from wales which were very solidly built.

I just so happen to be selling mine, well as soon as lockdown is eased ! 2004 model with engine rigged 2005, 200 HPDI. Just needs some seats re upholstered as worn and the speedo fixed. Ray Marine E7D plotter plus AIS plus ipod dock fusion unit with bluetooth, twin batt set up with charging regulator. some pics in the for sale section. PM me if interested. Does not have a trailer, based in Poole, potential to take over dry stack spot at cobbs quay.

Is one of the above brands better than the other? - don't know...... But my decision making process would also consider other factors, e.g. condition, hours, past use, spec etc
A top brand ex-charter rib thats got 1000's of hard run hours might not be the sensible first choice compared to another privately owned and cared for alternative
