Ribnet (Well past) X-mas Meal

After a bit of a false start, Saturday the 5th March has now been booked at:

The Bridge Tavern, Old Portsmouth.

http://www.pubandbar-network.co.uk/p...vern_1153.html

I've booked the ‘Upper Deck’ so our antics won’t upset other customers, and at present I've suggested 30 - 40 people, but that's flexible.

They will be providing me with a full menu to pre-book from very shortly, which I’ll post as soon as I have it. I’ve eaten there a few times in the past, and can report the food is good hearty proper pub food to a good standard.

The Bridge tavern is full of character, and right in the centre of Portsmouth’s commercial fishing Port. It has loads of parking right outside, and is surrounded by fascinating scenes of commercial and leisure marine life. There is even a backdrop of RIBs in drystack to drool over.

As before, we’ll go with optional Black Tie, as I know some of the regulars enjoy putting their gear on and strutting about as much as I do.
I must stress though that it’s optional, and everyone is welcome no matter what they are wearing.

The cost will be in the region of £28 - £30 per head, which I’ll be able to confirm very shortly when we’ve finalised the menu.

Obviously this won't include drinks. We've found in the past that it's best to let everybody pay for, and be responsible for, their own drinks at the bar.

If those who wish to come could let me know by PM or on this thread that would be great.

Let’s hope it goes as well as in previous years where a good time has been had by all.
I’m obviously also now looking for suggestions, by PM please, regarding any deserving recipients of the various trophies for ‘cock-up’s’ and misdemeanours during 2010.

As before I'll need a Deposit of £5 per head, then full payment before the event.
I apologise for this requirement, but unfortunately this has proved necessary. In the past some have thought the rest of us would pay for them to eat, and I've personally ended up funding meals that have not been covered on the night.

If anyone has any questions please feel free to contact me, and can anyone who has a trophy awarded last year contact me please.
The recipients of the ‘Ducks’ last year should note that these were awarded for life, or in other words, I’ll make some more.

Nasher.

Hi Andy,

Will let you know soon but may take you up on offer, might stop with parents in Fareham.

Wouldn't bother me if we got Taxi (might be able to con Oldie into picking us up - don't know what time over 70's go to bed these days!!) and shared costs (if we get taxi) so you could have beer or two..

Mike

That's alright, but I'm happy with my Shandy and J2O's these days If it makes you feel better, you could even buy them for me . . . . .Might be cheaper getting the TAXI

Count me in please, and I've got the build thread trophy. I can either bring it along on the night or to the Churchillian if we meet before the gathering.
Seem to have failed to get Mrs M interested though would be interested to hear of anyone's good lines in persuasion

i've got this one lads, tell her she must be getting old if she doesn't fancy a good night out with good company then leave it an hour and ask if everything is alright between us, when (hopefully) she say's yes just leave it, about a day later she'll say she's coming

Tell her it's an Ann Summers party Ian and you're star attraction . . . . . . . Second thoughts, we don't want this thread to turn into the Ellen MacArthur Thread
