Ribnetters on AIS
The devil makes work for idle hands...
6 weeks off on the sick so my website's going to get a bit of an upgrade
I did have a marinetraffic.com html widget thingy that showed M2's current position but since she spends the vast majority of her time on the berth, it wasn't particularly exciting to look at
I don't suppose there's many of us yet but I'm thinking about maybe compiling a list of ribnet members with AIS T/X and putting them all on the map?
If nothing else it'll make Willk's life easier
Just pm me or put your mmsi below if you're in

How long did it take to find the address?!
That would be my template page, make a button, duplicate it lots of times, add all the other common bits then I can just duplicate the page (learnt that the hard way last time)

is willk wall digital or purely old tech. If his system is electronic you can get an api for it and save yourself the effort - it will have all the non ais boats too ;-)

This looks good. At last an N2K transponder from digital yacht which is a fair bit simpler and probably cheaper than the Garmin and Raymarine offerings. I'm getting tempted.

I already had a Garmin plotter so I went for the Garmin AIS600 for compatibility.
Your existing plotter and vhf will kind of dictate what's best for you, but if you're looking for cheap then Digital Yacht do basic units that'll 0183 into whatever you've got.

Looks like a nice unit - but £900
I am planning a Garmin re-fit next year so may try and save that little bit extra.

TBH, now that Digital Yacht are N2K compatible you wouldn't benefit that much with the Garmin

Cheers, looks like marine traffic need to receive a signal within a certain timeframe in order to register a search result. You'll have to let me know next time you flick the switch

Will do My problem is that I'm 70 miles from the coast, so even when & fire it up, it probably won't register until I have a trip out to the coast, probably Whitby in a week or 2.

Strange since we're still on there and ours hasn't been on since September!
That new AIS2000 looks pretty nice but we don't have a free N2K port anyway so it would have been a much more expensive route than the 1000.

If you've got "my fleet" set up and you're saved on it then I think you will always show up but searching for a new vessel, you seem to need a recent hit.
