Ribquest Supersport

Does anyone know anything about this boat. Come across it? Know the owner? Know any history?

Cheers,

Dan

Yeah I sent Ribquest a query. Just thought someone one here might be aware of it. Looks like a bit over-engined and under trailered to my eye . But if I'm wrong....

Dave Rose isn't involved with Ribquest anymore. Ribquest closed down but has now been resurrected by a firm darn sarf. That boat will be of Dave's vintage, I doubt the new owners would have any knowledge.
Not thinking of changing are you Dan?

What!? Again? In the last 3 years? Just before we bought the Rebay we were talking to Dave and it was him and these two brothers (who had a company which did summat else but they'd put money into Ribquest) running the place. I knew it had gone down south but I didn't realise Dave had left. Can't keep up with it all.

I really love the Redbay; it punches well above it's weight in weather, it's solid, it rides well, and I know exactly where it's been and whats been done to it because nobody else has had it. And it's not too big to trailer. But I'd REALLY like suspension seats, and possibly a rear bench for relaxing at anchor. In an ideal world I'd have them build me one like this:

But I just can't afford it. It seems like the price of new boats across the board has sky rocketted.

And retro-fitting sussies to the boat involves hacking the console about because the seats and console are all one unit: which I'm not sure I want to do.
I guess I'll just have to keep going until me knees give out.

Actually, on at least one note I'm being a plumb: there's a pic of the plate and it says it's rated to 250hp.

And the address on the plate is Chesterfield so I guess it's from before it all went south. Not sure about the trailer, but it might be worth a peek.

If it's Chesterfield it could well be a Dave Rose. Skua took over Ribquest from Dave but didn't do much with it. So the boat is either one of Dave's or a Skua. Why do you need to hack the console around to fit "sussies" ?( I like that[emoji6]) my Ullmans & console are totally separate.

I think Dan’s console and seats are one piece like this: https://goo.gl/images/YQcV9f

I wonder if http://www.wavesoftboatcushions.com or http://www.shockmitigationdirectory....ory/6/18/1003/ would provide a suitable compromise without needing a grinder!

It's cos the 'standard' Redbay console is a single unit: seats and console all in one. So you have to either rip the whole lot out and fit a new console or chops the seats off and put blanking plates over the holes. The first option would be v expensive (I haven't even asked tbh) and the second on leaves you with a boat which has been pretty obviously 'modified' and I'm not sure it's worth it.

Thanks Poly: there's some stuff to pursue there, though I think the Coastal Pros, even the compact, would end up being too high. I'll def get me tape measure out though.

If you’ve got the money for Ulmans perhaps coastal pros plus this would work: https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-...urgery-5115453 :-)

One day you will see the light, and get an Evinrude

I do like the logic though, I want some sus seats, so a £40k boat is on the shopping list, I might try this with Lucy!

I have actually thought about getting some suspension seats on Beretta, but they are so expensive, and I can get new knees free on the NHS

Ahh! I'd got my wires crossed. I thought he meant the suspension seats he was putting in were attached to the console, my bad.

Sussies (I do get a school boy satisfaction writing that[emoji23]) do help with the knees, but the biggest benefit, for me at least, is in the back, neck & shoulder area. If you think about it, a decent day out on the boat & you've been subject to numerous shocks & unnatural loads similar to being in dozens of minor car accidents. That "beaten up" feeling that you get the day after is minor whiplash. The Sussies don't eliminate it totally, but they certainly help. I certainly feel less like I've been through the mill after a weekend out. The effect is more noticeable after a couple of weeks boating holiday.

You're right though. It's a ludicrous way to behave, and I am almost certainly to sensible/tight to actually go through with it. Specially since it probably wants 3k spending on a trailer if you're going to tow it further than along Caernarfon foreshore.

I might just stuff a load of bubble wrap down me foulie trousers.
