Shurley by the time you buy it, transport it, pay import duty and vat it will be cheaper to buy local (uk)

Yes it can be done. SA is where the Ribeye brands are made and are then shipped to UK . Our 8.5m was made there and shipped over to Tilbury before being taken to Dartmouth.

Costs per unit may be high, they need containerising and easier to share with others, as I guess a few could go inside on container.

Lots of shipping companys will help you out, but it will cost you. Then the tax/import costs and waiting for it. I would just buy one locally and save the money / hassel. Plus if you buy it locally you can go back to the supplier / seller if you have questions or issues.

You've got to ask yourself, why have the companies that were in SA come back to building them back here

The rise in shipping costs, due to oil prices, and the fact you only get a few in each container, makes them less cost effective to ship.

Added to the fact you cant check quality till it turns up, then you may as well make them here. Use subcontract labour and only pay for labour when you have an order.

Thanks for the replies,

thundercats are only made in South Africa, all decent quality.
There are no dealers in the UK anywhere near me anyway, and I do all the maintenance and servicing myself.

I'm replacing my current thundercat so I don't need a trailer, so the boat can be rolled up (doesn't take up much room)
