Thanks for the replies, interesting stuff, I just want to make sure that I learn from others and try and get the best bits I prefer on a RIB. As I said earlier, I looked at some last Saturday at Universal marina, they were between £250 and £350 some even more, all bespoke built but a bit ponsey for me, I would not want to go above 200, but I'm sure for that I should get a reasonable RIB with bits that I want on it Oh and capable of a Channel Islands trip or ten

Why buy a mono hull when you can have a catamaran ... or a Hysucat

All rib's are effectivly tri hull, solid main centre hull and two smaller inflatable outer hulls / stabilizers, that's why they handle so well with no rolling, thats my hopinion.

Are Osprey the ones they use for Special needs people then, high sides and all that? Saw a Cat in Port Solent at the weekend (a bit like a Husycat possibly but never seen one) adapted for the disabled, great to see people can still get out and about

I was asking for the pecking order of RIBS as in quality and finish, a mention was made of a load of RIBS seen at a dry stack but no mention of Avons, my post asking why no Avons was a real question e.g. are they not that popular or have they just been inadvertently missed out, not wanting to buy a new one

I will stick to British thanks, off for my Danish bacon sandwich now

Avons:
I think I'm safe in saying that although (as you know) the SR range (and the related "Workboat" big SIB range) are built like the proverbial commercial outhouse, there is deeply divided opinion on here about the "leisure" range.

Which is why I say you really need to get out there & test drive / experience differnet setups. To go back to the Avon Adventure / Humber Assault deep vs shallow V debate as a kick-off

One man's meat = other's poison & all that....

I think you'll find Avon was in my original list? We have lots at the dry stack and their owners love them. I think the Avon Adventure range seems a decent rib (although with a double console they are a bit tight to move around on - especially for those with a "fuller figure"). Not mentioning any names!!!

I reckon he checked Tier I and instantly assumed that Avon was missing instead of relegated to Tier III

That or he's not interested in "real" replies, just the miffed ones.

I think he should get out on his rib more, check out some RIBflesh on the bay...

There are some CAT's being built in the UK that are adapted to give access vie the front bow with a hatch.

We are currently building a 40' version for a client in Vietnam. Will post pics when the hull is done.

I've currently got a Ring 6.5m With Suzuki 140df outboard. My first venture into ribbing. Love it, solid, stable boat with sports transom. Ring = quality and British. Boat capable of going to France and Channel Isles. Sadly may look to sell in next couple of months due to illness.
