Do they have to be worn by passengers, or just fitted?

Worn, apparently. Obviously, this is Ireland, so no one will be checking. Patently, it's a rubbish idea, but it's keeping a swivel servant in beer vouchers somewhere

Let's hope they specified self righting gear as well
Or is it a case of a muppet in an office that's never seen a rib

Attached are a couple of photos of the footblocks I made.
4x2 blocks - which meant as she grew taller I was able to turn the blocks through 90 degrees to give a lower block.
Covered on the outside faces with self-adhesive non-slip, and fitted round the base of the pod in a few seconds with 2 bungees cut to the correct length.
The other advantage is I could fit these to any pod, so if we were just 2-up she could still sit next to me - quite important to me
One thing about fitting folding pegs - the ones I have seen are very good but will be set at one permanent height, so consider what happens as their legs grow longer, and what you'll do when their feet reach the deck. At that stage you'll just have something passengers will catch their legs against.

my pegs are more often folded up, and have never been a problem with regards catching them. the only downside to them is it f*cking hurts your shins when you walk into them when folded down. your comment about when their legs grow is a little short sighted - when they can reach the deck they will have the pegs folded up out of the way so they can stand on the deck like anyone else! youre also not thinking about all the times there are friends out on the boat with their kids. the fixed height is not a problem at all - ive had all ages on mine, and if they cant reach the deck they they are much happier to use the pegs no matter what height they are set at.

When my daughter was small i thought about making some foot pegs from a single piece of 25mm flat bar bent to fit across the top of the console and down each side, then bent out to form the foot peg . The fact her feet didn't touch the deck never bothered her so never bothered.

We take the kids out often - particularly the 7 and 5 year old - the baby not so often!
My boat has jockeys but came with 'removable' extended wing backs for the rear two jockey seats. These, when in position provide a very 'narrow' seat, specially designed to hold kids in position. The kids feel very secure, literally can not fall out sideways, i think a great idea and I am sure not too expensive to have fabricated, they lock in position using pins. Quick and easy to rig/remove if taking adults. They then live in one of the seat bases out of the way when not in use.
Couple of pics attached - showing the backs fitted to the rear jockeys and one showing my daughter in her seat which shows how far the wing back actually extends forward.

I've got two boys 2 and 5, they both love being out in the boat. I have three bucket type seats in the back of the boat and a double bench seat at the console. My missus usually sits in the back with the two boys - not that they sit in them that often as they much prefer to wander upfront!!
