Hi whiskeylee
Yes it was an 300hp will be heavy. Will have to strengthen the stringers by adding boxes like sections to tie it all together like the pic the have stainless steel brackets ties the transom and floor together and I like that will be strong to hold a 300hp outboard. Is there many 7.5m ribs with 300hp on the back.

Those cheapie diesel heaters are handy for temporary use & run off 12v probably keep you going a bit longer into the winter it wont get you working in your tee shirt but knocks the chill off. I have one in a 24mx12m shed & it knocks the chill off & dries the dampness off everything, also handy for getting a warm if your freezing for under £100 its cheap warmth.

7.8 Humber with 350hp off the back, nearly 400kg, I’d want that pretty solid.
Now is the time to strengthen imho

Yes will need to make sure the stringers, supports and transom are well tied together making it able to carry the outboard. The transom will be about 85mm think including the fibreglass.

Beamishken
Thank you for the link that is a good idea to get warm and to dry things out.
Cheers Kevin

Hi all
I managed yesterday to get couple of layers on the back of the transom before it gets to cold. Hopefully will start on the stringers and strengthen the hull on my next days off.
Cheers Kevin

Stringer supports spacing

Hi all
Looking for a bit of help, I'm wondering what size you do between the supports from port to starboard would be to strengthen the hull up.
Thanks for the help
Cheers Kevin

Hi Alan
The fuel tank will be about the middle of the hull. It came with a 200ltr tank but would like to put a 300ltr tank in but not sure where to get in from.
Cheers Kevin

will you leave a drain hole in the bottom of the bulkheads?

You tried this lot for a tank?

Hi Alan
I will be leaving a drain hole in the bulkheads and probably put a wee bit of pipe in the hole to stop the wood from rotten. Thank you for the fuel tank link.
Cheers Kevin

Hi all
Looking for your opinions and build knowledge on the supports. I have placed the first support from the transom 300mm then about 450mmish the red lines in pic, I will put a supports down the middle. Between the yellow lines will be the fuel tank. Hopefully I have enough strength.
Cheers Kevin

Generaly its best to follow the original builders pattern where possible & if you need to move or replace anything structural try to replace any strength lost as best you can , if in doubt add more. Assuming your under deck layout is similar in size & structure it should be fine

Hi beamishken
I have replaced where the original ones where and add a few more, so should be fine for strength carrying the heavy outboard. And also my diesel heater arrived today so need to get in setup and try it out.
Cheers Kevin

Starting to rebuild the rib

Hi All
Finally started to get the rib rebuilt:dance . Manage to get time to get the stringers glued in. Had the diesel heater on getting the boat tent to 18c (good idea beamishken), so it was quite warm. Also started to cut the rest with of the bulkheads and ribs out.
Thank for the info
Cheers Kevin
