Thanks for your reply, I have asked these questions and am awaiting a reply.
Anyone on here know the boat / owner? - I am a little worried about " The boat does not have full documentation" I am also unsure about the VAT status, as I would like to blast over to France.

My boat didn't come with an original invoice so I had to contact Ribtec, who told me who the dealer was who sold it and I went to them for the original paperwork, I then bought it. Trouble with this one is it could be pre computer age and not so easy to track down, worth a try though if you are serious.

Good Idea, I didnt think of that one - I think I will see what the seller comes back and says, and also how it goes on flebay then suggest to the seller that I am interested, but subject to finding the documents. I may also contact Solent RIB Charter in Lymington and see if they can help any.
I am unsre of the 180 / 165 hp though?

You'll need to speak to Ribeye now as they own Ribtec, good Customer service and Ella Chiver's posts on here and she's the MD's daughter so i'm sure she'd be happy to help.

Yes. In theory, it's a good package. However, I think that the seller is full of BS. No VAT docs on a boat of that caliber is very unusual. Also, I wouldn't touch an inboard/outdrive from a man who allows his boat to fall into such a pathetic state of neglect:
The engine start with the key is temperamental, but can always be started by jumping it (very easy to access/do)
There is fiberglass damage around one of the bars from the bow post
The two deck bilge pumps stopped working while I was there - assuming it's a fuse for two to go at once (the engine bilges both still work)
One rope rail attachment has fallen off - easy fix with glue
Digital compass not working - probably needs replacing for analogue compass
Kill chord is not wired - never been working in the time we've owned it
Trim gauge not working - never been working in the time we've owned it
Some deck lights not working - I can see they just need wiring in again
Some speakers not working - I can see they just need wiring in again
CD player temperamental - it does work sometimes, but possibly needs replacing
Some light bulbs need replacing.
Whoever does this little to a boat does not keep an engine and leg serviced and in good order.

This is why I asked people input and any comments are all welcome. I will see what the seller comes back with and says as I have asked for more information on the history they have and don’t have - they say they have the service history for the engine and leg going back 5 years.
I am open to something that needs a little work and I can spend some weekends tinkering and upgrading - but i don’t want a shed.
I am interested as I didn’t think I would be able to get a diesel in my price range.

Steve, if your price stretches as far as the buy it now you should be able to find two or three boats to choose between. I'm always a bit suspicious of ads that say 'just needs xyz doing to fix it'. If its really just a five minute job why hasn't he done it himself. If the engines have been serviced (i'd guess he's not very hangman so pays a pro) then that wouldn't put me off as much as willk is - at least he is giving a fairly honest description rather than "in perfect condition".
Vat paperwork can get lost, but he's had months to try and get hold of duplicates. The whole lot sounds like he is trying to minimise hassle rather than maximize his sale price. In which case the BIN might be a bit optimistic. I bet his reserve is not that low either.

Thats what I was looking for - buy it for as low as possible then spend time and money to get everything sorted and upto the high standard I would like.
Looking at the photos they have not even cleaned it.

Exactly, and if the lazy B didn't change the leg oil etc, it's gonna be £££.
If you are a mechanic, as opposed to a handyman, then fine.

He says he has the history on the engine and leg - and these would be the only part i would be unsure of - all the electrical stuff and cleaning I am OK with.
Anyone have a rough idea on cost to service this engine and leg?

This popped up on my eBay search last week.
Saw it afloat in Hamble a couple if weeks ago.
From the description sounds like a typical unloved yachty race boat tender.
Would be wanting to see the engine and drive service history - all the rest can be sorted but it would need to be cheap.
Typically the "owner" will pay for servicing and stuff but nobody actually takes any care of it.
