RIP rogue wave
Rest in peace, my old mate.
He passed away suddenly yesterday.
I know he had many, many friends on Ribnet.
Gutted.

Very sad. I met him down at Crosshouse Trailers a few times. He was an interesting chap. My thoughts go out to Jasper and his family.

Oh man, no! That's seriously spoiled my week. DM thanks for letting us know. Are we allowed to know what did for him?
Rest in peace indeed, Stuart Hopkins.

DM thanks for sharing, wish you hadn’t had to. I’m sure if you are talking to Jasper you will pass on condolences from everyone who knew him both in person, and only virtually here.

Really Sad news.
He was one of life's characters, and would do anything for anyone.
My kids called him 'The funny man' when they were little.
Stu was one of the very first people I met when I first joined up to RibNet, and he helped me a lot, but sadly I've not spoken to him for a number of years.
Rest in peace mate.

Sorry to hear this, many hours of fun over the years sharing a passion for seariders, including our 8.4m SR joint venture of Bugle Billy, our appearence on 'Time Team' together in 2004 on the Hamble, getting stranded at Ashlet creek as we watched the millpond water level not dropping to come and and find the scorpion sat in the mud!
lots of fond memories.
He would always put helping someone else ahead of his own work.
RIP Stu

"Bugle Billy" I remember now. Jet drive with the Caterpillar engine I think?
Didn't Stu want to call it "Dinah Moe Hum" (Frank Zappa song), or had one of his other boats called that?
I also recall Stu's indignation as he told me about how he was using an angle grinder with no guard on it, crawled underneath a trailer once. The grinder kicked back and flew out of his hands and was revving away an inch away from his knackers. But DM was too busy laughing to help recover the grinder as it edged closer to Stu's family jewels.
No idea how much Stu had embellished, but for the sake of a good story, who cares.
Hope he died happy and doing something he loved.

I remember being totally in awe of the shear size of Bugle Billy on it's trailer at the yard, and remember Stu being in big trouble with his son(Wish I could remember his name) for dragging BB around the yard with his Toyota Surf.
And yes, clearly remember seeing Tony, Phil, Mick etc being ferried around the creek by Stu/you on the telly.

Jasper. He wasn't always in trouble with Jasper, but absolutely was always in trouble with Brit.

Jasper, that's him, thanks.
Like Stu I was always a little scared of Britt.
