Out again today Sunday 11th, to a dive boat (small RIB with tiller control) who were returning to Burntisland when the hit a sand bank and their engine fell off!!! yes you read right fell off. Not only was it not secured by a secondary means but there were NO paddles, NO VHF and NO anchor, NO lifejackets. Lifeboat got to them when they were on rocks with one in water trying to swin towing the boat which was about 4.5m loaded with dive gear!!! What did he this he was a bloody newfoundland. Plenty entertainment for the onlookers.
Video should be forth coming but there is a lot of editing needing done from the weekend now.
End result was that the boat was moved round the rocks using a line ashore where 2 of the remaining occupants got out while one remained in for the tow back to Burntisland in very very rough conditions. Wind readings at Inchcolm were about 30 knots and had been 40 earlier in the day.
Very lucky people as it could have ended up so so differently
