Robert Avis.
It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of Bob Avis on Sunday.
Bob was a great champion of all us Ribster's and Fast Boats in general through his many article's and books and his work with the RYA.
He was no mean boat driver himself, as was witnessed by those of us at the Fleet review last year when he was out and about in the RYA Rib.
He was also one of nature's gentlemen, a rare thing nowadays.
He had battled the big C last year, but it came back a few months ago.
I believe that the funeral is on Monday 19th in Kenley, Surrey, but will know more later in the week.
