Rockall expedition
I found this on the web:
http://www.therockalltimes.co.uk/roc...y-assault.html
They're looking for people to take them to Rockall and back for a charity event. It's a long way to go - probably not SIB territory

re territorial claims to Rockall
not sure if this is technically allowed here - but here goes...
There's a rumour that Ireland and the UK setteld their own territorial disputes regarding Rockall in the 80's following years of a standoff. The settlement was reached using unconventional means during a not very well publicised meeting between the then leaders of both countries, John Majors and ALbert Reynolds. Here's how it reputedly went...
Mr Majors claimed that Rockall was undeniably British - and of course Mr Reynolds climed that it was Irish territory. These claims went back and forth several times (as they had for years...", when Mr Reynolds suggested that they use an old 'folk remedy' to sort this out once and for all. Mr Majors agreed tentatively... "So, Mr Majors - here's how it works " said Mr Reynolds "we stand facing each other, and take turns to kick each other in the b**ls ... the last man standing wins the dispute...." Mr Majors though for a while, then reluctantly agreed to go ahead with this. Mr Reynolds then announced that he himself should deliver the first 'blow' - since he had suggested the means to overcome the current stalemate. So Mr Majors stood erectly - like a man - and took the full force of the first blow... well - as you can imagine it hurt - he turned all shades of blue and green, and doubled up in agony for several minutes... but he didnt go down...
After about 15 minutes of pure agony Mr Majors decided he was ready to go on... "So -" he said "now it's my turn.." to which Mr Reynolds thoughtfully replied... "mmm - actually - on reflection - Britain can keep Rockall...."
mm - but I dont think it's true...

On this day in 1955
http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/d...00/4582327.stm
Rockall became British....
And before anyone says it's not ours the Royal Navy landed a man on there about 100 years earlier - wonder if they took the poor sod off again....
