Rope - 10% Discount Code
Got this by email the other day and thought it might benefit anyone looking for ropes.
I have posted it in it's entirety as it looks like there are rewards for referrals in the form of vouchers (or even cash) and I wouldn't want anyone to think I hadn't made this clear from the outset!
Anything I get from this (including rope vouchers or any money) will be passed onto the Portishead Lifeboat and receipts will be made available accordingly. (I am not a member of or involved commercially in any way with Portishead Lifeboat)
(Mods: If posting this is against any rules please let accept my apologies and let me know and I'll remove!)

Looks expensive even with the discount compared to say the Marine Superstore, but I tend to buy from odds and ends box that the chandlers have.

THE ABOVE POST IS NOT ACCURATE!!
I have made a detailed comparison of prices between www.nauticalrope.co.uk and the Marine Superstore.
Comparing like for like, the majority of Nautical Rope prices are cheaper than Marine Superstore. Many are cheaper even without the above discount. Plus Nautical Rope has a much greater range.
For example:
Double Braid 12mm -
Marine Superstore = £1.90
Nautical Rope = £1.92 (£1.73 with discount)
Dyneema 8mm -
Marine Superstore = £5.15
Nautical Rope = £4.01 (£3.61 with discount) MUCH CHEAPER!!
Please feel free to check this yourself.

Nah...
I suppose it's only fair that he gets to answer a post saying he's expensive though.

It was when I wrote it because I took the time to compare the on line prices at the time.
Were and why would you use Dyneema 8mm (especially @ £4 ) a metre on a rib ?
I see the Marine Super Store are selling white 12mm Poly at £1 pm tonight. This is quite a useful size on a rib and a good price, your selling something similar at £1.89 less 10% but only for the first order.
So it would seem there is some truth in my first post and your statement above is not accurate.
Pete

Rope Prices
There appears to be some questions about my motivation and accuracy in the above posts.
I am in no way attempting to hide the fact that "Hub Flush" and "Nautical Rope" are run by the same company, "Scullion Enterprise Ltd".
We are a small company of experienced sailors and divers serving our fellow boaters with a professional friendly service.
I would like make clear we try and price our ropes very competitively offering excellent value for money and my statement above that the majority of our ropes our cheaper is accurate.
All our ropes are manufactured in the UK to exceed ISO 9001:2000 standards and you should be very careful comparing rope just by it's name "polyester".
The quality of the yarn material used alters the rope's performance dramatically and there is a great deal of poor quality imported rope about.
I strongly advise that you avoid purchasing rope unless you can confirm where it was manufactured and that it meets the ISO 9001:2000 standards.
Just this month Practical Boat Owner magazine reported many problems on the ARC Atlantic crossing of failing poor quality rope.
If a rope's performance is not as important as the price, then there is cheaper rope out there. However, if safety, durability and quality are important, we are confident you will not find better value for money anywhere.
If you have any further questions about any of this, please get in touch with us through our website.
Regards
Andrew

Since when was ISO 9001 a standard for rope manufacture?

I think it's reasonable that Andrew has had his right to reply, although he could have made it less of a sales pitch.
As he didn't start this thread, I'll leave it be.
Hub Flush definitely needs to be a trade member if he wants to continue to plug any of his products though
John

Andrew I think your aiming at the wrong market with the rope. There just isn't a big enough demand from Rib owners because the average rib only needs a couple of short mooring lines, plus one for the anchor and perhaps a couple of long ones for locks, towing or shots for diving, as I am sure you are aware. What they are made of and by whom isn't important because you can lift most ribs with a single piece of 12mm. There is no need for expensive multi core ropes and I suspect most are bought on price and colour rather than specification. You would be better to target yachtie clubs and owner associations, for example:
http://www.westerly-owners.co.uk/
However the hub flush idea does warrant merit, and could be worth joining Ribnet as a trade member. You could then do an article for the Features Section perhaps, explaining how to fit, advantages and disavantages of flushing and some photos espcially if you can show hubs that are several years old. Don't over do the sales thing, just keep it to flushing or not.
Pete
