Rope reels

Anyone know of a supplier for rope storage reels ? Would rather go direct than pay the margin through the boat's manufacturer....

Thanks

Simon

Hi Simon
We made ours out of ply with some tubes, this was fine for sailing club safety boat but probably too weak for you.
Might be worth going and talking to the local ali / SS fabricator and asking them.

Won't the RNLI building team give you any pointers?

good luck
James

What about asking a local chandeler for some - don't they have empty reels when they have sold all the rope?

I'm looking for the braked type, to act as towing reel stowage on the boat. Sadly, most rope these days is supplied to chandlers on flimsy little plastic reels...

Ahh - what about something from BT or the leccy board - they often use drums like that for cable laying.

Good thought - I did try out local Newy & Eyre, but they send them back for re-use...I'll try a few others though.
