Yes we sorted our mechanical problems that we suffered on the first day. At Milford Haven for the first 20-30minutes we had problems with our Fly-By-Wire throttles for the engines, they were not sending the right info to the engines and kept tripping the system sending it into a safe mode.

Goldfish
The Goldfish are great boats having owned one for 10 months now and done 110 hours, it hasn't missed a beat. They will take anything you can throw at them. Arctic Blue, Wahoo and Scorpion are good, don't get me wrong, but the Goldfish to me are in another league.

The article opens with... Quietly kicking the rest of the fleet's backsides in the Round Britain Powerboat Race are three Goldfish RIBs.
GO ON!!! Best of continued luck to the Lionhead team, can only imagine what its like for you, its bloody exciting even from only watching being sat behind a desk!!
Cheers guys, Will.

I thought you were having problems as you came over the start line.
What happened in Milford Haven Marina to cause you delay in getting out?

The Bandit had overheating problems and I think the boat is with Barrus as I type this. Barry and team have done really well and it would be a shame for them to drop out now.
Cheers

I take it you don't have a DMAX 380 engine then!
I think Garmin has the record for most hours spent in an engine fixing things but Goldfish are very close behind.
The finish on these boats is better than anything I've seen before, and so it should be for the money , but I think they need to spend more time getting the mechanics right.
Cheers
Mark

Spotted the Rib International Artic Blue in Southampton today looking a bit sorry for itself!
Mark you must be having an epic trip. Have Goldfish actually lost an engine during a leg so far? I was skeptical about the reliability of 380hp out of those engines but they seem to be doing very well!

We made the long trip from North Notts over to Lowestoft to watch the boats home. There was even a fair sized crowd on the south pier to watch them in

Good to see you in Portsmouth yesterday and sorry I couldn't spend more time but we had loads to do.
The Goldfish guys are a great bunch and rightfully proud of their boat and its achievements. Talking to them they said the engine hasn't itself failed rather the stern drives have been a big problem plus turbo's have been failing. As these boats are prototypes they will fix these issues and have, what I consider, to be the best RIB on the market, with the exception of the Buzzi 40 of course.
Cheers
Mark

Sorry so many of you were disappointed with lack of info on the RB site, I make no apologies but it was a pretty tough task on my own.
Perhaps if there is an event similar in the future - you could email / call the webmaster and offer your assistance?
Believe it or not I would have loved some help.

I think the fact that the race ran at all was more than enough. I have helped organise motorsport events in the past and it is far from easy. Especially when you have a family and a 'real' job as well.
Well done to you and the team for keeping the news upto date
Heres to the next RB

I've had a search and I don't see any messages from you saying that you could do with some help. I'm sure that plenty of people would have chipped in if only they had known.
It's a bit late to start complaining now!

The RB site was no doubt done to the best ability time and constraints allowed , however from my point of view and I'm sure many other followers of the RB John K did a brilliant job here and boatmad of tabling the leaders and all the various classes even without being asked and from my point of view it did make it more interesting to follow, thanks
Also a great insight on boatmad by John (ciao) on how it almost didn't come together

Ciao! I don't think it was meant as a personal criticism of the person doing the work, but rather of a slightly inward looking approach which the organisers took (the quote JK highighted is exemplary of this) - where keeping the public or media well appraised was not as important as I think it should be for a major event of this significance.
However, if you were struggling then a quick post here, on Boatmad or on the RB forums would probably have got you the offers of help you wanted. If you don't ask you don't get. I am sure if an unknown entity just volunteered their help it would either cause offence ("is my contribution not good enough") or suspicion ("who is this random person - and how much damage are they going to do to my site").

Personally, I think it was a cracking event, with decent web coverage, given the budget - even Marine Track seemed to be accessible after Day 1. Considering the amount of work required to keep the whole race moving along, I think congratulations are in order - well done and bring on the next one.
