I think every boat will be different depending on how much they want to put in - fuel is going to be prepaid, but you can work out how much that will be depending the fuel consumption - entry is £10 per horsepower. You'll need safety equipment, both for the crew and the boat (helmets and race lifejackets can be quite costly depending on where you get them from) - up to date flares etc and the list is quite long! Preparation for the boat can be considerable - you'll need to expect the boat to be able to cope with force 6 -7 easily, and the cost of this will be up to how well the boat is prepared already.
For the actual event you will ideally need a ground crew to follow you around with a trailer - if they are in a motor home then that will reduce the costs quite a lot, but you might have to hire one? If you have Mercury power Barrus are bringing a big spares truck, so you don't need to carry to many spares yourselves which helps.
If you or anyone needs any help with finding stuff let me have a list and I'll try and point you in the right direction!
I'm afraid the short answer is - it depends!

Our estimated costs for the event not including the boat is £25-£30 K
We have 3 seats in the boat and 4 crew who will rotate. There is a fair chance that one or more may end up with a back problem. These costs are being split and none of us have boat related businesses.
We see this as the greatest experience that we could have on water.

If it isn't prying too much it would be helpful to know what is included in that - entry, fuel, any support crew other than the fourth crew member? Are you taking any spares and a trailer around with you? (bearing in mind your history! )

would this be a fair breakdown:
4k Fuel
2.5k Acc/Food etc
3k Ent Fees, 300 engine
1k Courses in my case I/crew would need to do to comply
2k Pers Safety kit, Helmets etc
5k Boat mods, again to comply with race rules
Allow 15K ish, plus lots of beer tokens and a willing mate to drive the Landy and Trailer around the course
value your comments
any sign of Suzuki providing support ?

Yes I think those are fair - one of the big hidden expenses are the courses - you'll need Day Skipper, sea survival (everyone), VHF (one per boat), and need to do a verbal test with the RYA to get a license if you haven't got one already or meet any of the exemptions. Little things like charts for the GPS can be expensive as well as paper charts. The landy needs to be packed with every concievable spare part! The full license is £200, but you can get a one leg not in charge of the vessel license for only £60
Suzuki haven't announced anything, but it would be worth asking the local dealer if you have a relationship with him if he would lend you some spares on sale or return in return for a sticker on the boat?
What do you intend doing to the boat as preperation?

I'm guessing Barry, but that £5000 Misc. is beer?

Mike Lloyd has confirmed that there are still a few places for anyone who wants to make a late entry.
The recent rule change has reduced the minimum boat length for RIBs, making it a bit more accessible.
All the details are on the RB8 web site www.roundbritainrace.co.uk

Looks like you're going to have a busy few weeks. Is getting the boat to the right place at the right time going to be a problem?

I would take off the A frame, radar etc, move the throttle so that it can be operated from the left seat, (try throttling and holding on all day with one hand and then imagine you have to do it for 9 more days!), and get some lateral support for those seats, it will take a large amount of energy to stay in the boat when it's going downwind and trying to throw you out every time the bow bites! Double nut and bolt the engine brackets and reinforce the seat and console mountings.
That's all I can see for now!
