Err.... he didnt mean ship to ship refuelling !

He meant a tanker truck coming to each stop.
Personally - I wont be happy until air to air refuelling is brought up !!

What Cetus is talking about was a fuel truck with enough capacity to supply fuel to all participants to avoid everybody running in the evening with plenty of jerry cans to the next gas station ..
somebody here mentioned that HMS was considering - or was even organizing such fuel supply already .

*but an offshore fuel tanker would be cool too

guys..yes ...HMS mailed me that he is trying to put together a Fuel tanker truck that will be at each night stop, with hoses, spill kit etc, so that the flotilla can be refuelled. He is working on it and should have news soon. The fuel demands of all the boats are too much to do it any other way. No ship to ship refuelling, no air to air refuelling, no carrying tons of jerry cans between the Marina and the local gas station. He should be along with some news soon.

Team Bulletin (29th May): We are therefore delighted to confirm that the Donegal Fuel Company have agreed to take the project on in order to not only service a midway fuel stop on day three but also all the ports inclusive of and between Killybegs to Crosshaven. The service will include one Articulated Fuel Tanker plus an additional supply truck carrying Easy Pumps, Generators, Spill Kits and Oil Booms - all operated by a designated qualified two man Round Ireland Challenge fuelling crew.

I suspect that the "Donegal Fuel Company" may be "Donegal Oil". They are keen Rally people and should be well equipped to supply fuel "in the field". Also used to dock/boat work as they supply marine fuels into Killybegs, our largest fishing port.

Engine was rigged today, electronics on Monday and Tuesday. Final set up Wednesday and test run. Thursday I will give it a proper run.

Hi guys ,
Would be a sin to circumnavigate Ireland without fishing gear ! Question to me is only - what do I need there ??
I love fishing but have mostly experience with fishing on lakes and rivers - except a few trips to the Baltic sea where I never fished deeper than 30m for cod .
Can somebody recommend me the specs of rod / reel / line / size & weight of jigs ???
I have a 2.7m rod with 180g casting weight , a Shimano 4000 reel with 0.17mm Fireline and up to 100g jigs - I wonder whether this would impress the Irish fish somehow !

You might be better with a bass spinning rod & reel 7kg breaking strain line
some red-gill lures,weighted lures & jelly shads. fish to catch will be Pollack,
Bass(hopefully) & Mackerel

A light bass spinning rod is not a problem at all - with these rods I fish in Germany & Ukraine for bass , pikes and others ..
Thought I need some heavier equipment to fish deeper and with heavy jigs !

My Ribeye hit the water yesterday and performed brilliantly. Some set up to do but running 51 knots and the seat is working a treat! Very happy with her.
