Ha yes Mazda tow car. I'm endorsed by the brand so they are going to get involved with the trip.

No A frame. The VHF Aerial and lights are mounted to the console, I've not had an A Frame fitted to keep the weight as low as possible, due to extra height of the Shockwave ICE2

Tom, you are definitely causing some severe jealousy in our household! Our wee 2006 bog-standard-and-very-unsuspended version of the A600 is gonna have some trouble keeping up with you Round Ireland! She looks fantastic though and looking forward to seeing her on the water.

Just got the RIB back from Kieron at Rib Shop. Am extrememly happy with what he has done.
A full rewire, new switch panel, Garmin 750, Icom MA500 AIS, Depth Sounder and transducer, a floor matrix for different seating combinations - with Big Heads glassed into the deck, new fuel tank sender and gauge, full engine service, new treadmaster....
I need to do a little general tidying, add a couple of fasteners, set up the seat configuration that works for me and do a few shake down runs this week coming I hope. Also wondering where I am going to stow all my stuff (need a roof rack!)

Very impressive, great to see this boat doing the trip and looking better than she did in RB4.

its had the grab rail from new I believe, useful as its a tight squeeze
getting between the console and the tubes when you have to.

I think the time for the photo would have been prior to the new treadmaster
going down, as all you can see are the bolt holes in the treadmaster now.
The big heads take 8 mm bolts - 6 per seat base, the seat bases have internal flanges.
They are arranged so that I can have all four seat pods fitted (very tight)
or just the front two side by side, or with the extra row of big heads in the centre, I can have either a single seat pod fitted in the middle or two in a row in the middle.

so took the RIB out for the first time today after its refit, and was very happy with the work Kieron from Rib Shop has done.
As you can see the North Sea was trying its best to emulate conditions on the West coast of Ireland !!

I think its the smoothest sea state I have ever experienced in the North Sea.
Was just out for 2 hours, but the boat went great, electronics all worked fine...will take me two weeks to fathom the manuals!
I had the delightful sound of the AIS collision alarm going off every 2 minutes until I worked out how to mute it!
(I just checked the console pic and it was going off while I took the pic!!)
Saw several Porpoise, but never closer than 100 yards, they dont like Blue and Yellow Ribs apparently.
A whole lot of new personal kit on trial today as well.
Typhoon 220 Extreme Dry suit - was very comfortable, a little spacious, but neck and wrist seals felt good.
Also Baltic RIB hybrid lifejacket, which after a while I forgot I was wearing,
and Typhoon Rock boots - again...extremely comfortable.
Next shake down run scheduled for approx 2 weeks time as work committments taking over for a while.

Really happy you are pleased with it Andy. The AIS alarm was driving us mad so good job on figuring out how to switch it off.

Am I wrong in thinking the alarm is there for a reason and what you might want it to change the sensitivity rather than disable it?

MENU then up or down arrow to CPA/TCPA Enter
Arrow up or down to Alarm Enter to toggle on or off.

BUT I'd think it would be better to adjust the slow warn and CPA/TCPA settings (same menu) to get the number of false alarms to as low as possible. not sure what the optimal setting for the slow warn would be possibly 1kt default.

CPA - you need to decide how close you want another boat to get before warning you of a collision. You are in a highly mobile boat so I'd be surprised if you need much more that 0.2nm? Travelling at 30kts tats 1 kt ever 2 minutes. If the other vessel is doing the same you are down to 1kt of seperation every minute. 0.2nm would give you about 12 seconds warning. Thats probably a bit close!! So you might decide 2 minutes would be more comfortable. So set the TCPA as 2min.

If I understand it correctly you then would get an alarm if:

1. A vessell is within 0.2nm and on a collision course with you
2. A vessell is on a collision course with you and will collide within the next 2 minutes
3. A vessell is anywhere within the 0.2nm area and travelling at less than 1kt so possibly drifting or at anchor and so direction information is wrong.

Guys, i booked some hotel for this round of ireland, but seems that we ll reach the middel of nowhere ..do you know anybody sharing house or garage for some nights ....? specially on the west coast
