That's not particularly unusual out there - it won't be as bad in summer. However, the prevailing winds blow onto our unprotected western shore and the tides are strong. 3 meter swells are the norm.
Expect rough seas for large parts of the trip

Just a wee breeze with a swell

Useful link posted by T 15 yesterday. Thanks for that.
Useful information for all RIPRC 2013 participants from the Continent:
P&O offers a 20 % early booking price reduction only until 31.01.13 for all online bookings on their Calais-Dover sailings. I booked my ferry tickets yesterday using that offer. This way their flexi-fare was even a little cheaper than the standard non-refundable fare will be as of 01.02.13.
Hoping to see quite a few participants from Europe when we start our trip in Milford Haven on July 26th!
All the Best from Germany
Joachim, Team Cetus

Irish Monster Waves
I am at least as scared as Bushmaster. Just cancelled my ferry bookings for the trip from Germany to Milford Haven on the 25th of July

Navigational Planning
Has anyone done any navigational planning for RIPRC 2013 already? I found a link that might be useful for just getting started:
In Your Footsteps
It is a waypoint list for the allegedly "most efficient round Ireland sailing route", resulting in a circumnavigation distance of only 681 nautical miles. So it's basically jumping from headland to headland! But I think, Hugo wants us to do better than that. Has anyone found a more suitable waypoint list for our purposes?
Hope to see many of you in Ireland
Joachim, Team Cetus

Any entrants still struggling for an EPIRB
I found a business with just 1 left - McMurdo SmartFind G5 406 plus with GPS - battery expiry March 2016 - for just UKP 299.00 incl VAT.
Think this is cheaper then renting one !
PM me for details and let me know your team/boat number.

LOL! Agreed. However it won the in my boat unfortunately. It's too much time and money for me I'm afraid. But you may well see me in part of the journey.
