Round The Isle Of Wight Adventure...

Does anyone in the smaller RIB category (yes I know there is BIBOA etc...) fancy a run round the Isle of Wight in about a months time.. Looking at launching at Clashot and depending on tidal streams doing a circum-navigation and maybe stopping at Cowes early evening for a meal then back to calshot to recover the boats before it gets dark...

I shall be taking my 4metre Avon Searider cruises happily at 25-35knots two up.. so any other boats 3.5 - 6 metres fancy a go? Going as a fleet will provide safety for anyone who is a little unsure of being caught out alone.

requirements would be minimum of two persons per boat and a maintainable speed of 20+ knots and insurance.

Yeah

Sunday 19 May sounds good - nice neap tides - HW Portsmouth 0433 & 1725 - range 2.6m - easterly flow up the Needles channel starts at about 1200.

I'm based at Chichester so if you fancy going clockwise I could dash out and join you.

I agree - Sunday 19th sounds good.

We are down that way for Ribex on Saturday, so this would finish off the weekend nicely.

As thread starter will you co-ordinate?

It would appear that all the replies have somehow been deleted...19th May is the date set..Tides show about 14:30 as a good time to set off from Calshot going easterly round past the Nab..

The NAB is miles from the Isle of Wight, do you really want to go all the way out there ? anyway have a good trip and hope the weather is good, we will be out diving the Luis, near Ventor, so please keep a look out for the "A Flags" as its nearly neaps that weekend, so lots of dive ribs about, Regards Pete

We could launch earlier...if need be...the tides should be fairly OK...not too choppy depends on the wind....
We are not planning to go right out to the Nab Tower...but to be down that end of the Island...
So I believe the total is now 5 boats??
I will intend to be on the water at 13:30 from Warsash...so off Calshot 13:40...
Where is a convienient place for everyone else to meet on the water? Or at the slipway... Off Calshot would be good I beleive someone is travelling over from the Isle of Wight....
I hope to see u all out there...
If the weather is particularly useless...then does a run up Southampton water suit as a back up??Or down to Lymington??
Alex
