Rubber Ducks

In South Africa ribs and inflatables seem to be called rubber ducks and Zapcats ,which appears to be a Uk trade mark as pencil cats. Weekends in Cape Town during their summer all you seem to see are ribs being towed by pickup trucks (they call them bakkies) single cab and twin cabs ( a popular type of car any way). They are used for water skiing on dams ,fishing ,sea and dams etc.I am suprised that we do not hear from more South Africans as ribbing is so popular.Pencil cat racing is massive with standard 50 hp or modified 50hp .

In the UK in the old days we used to call them Rubber Ducks or Flubbers... (that is around 20 years ago).

Quite a few manufacturers in South Africa too.

Agree

When RIBs were first used by Coastguard and RNLI we used the term "rubber duck" to refer the inflatable boats as a way to differentiate between them and the RIBs.

Mine of useless information me, I know
