Rubber floor coverings

Came across this website today:

https://www.rubbersmart.co.uk/produc...oat-surfacing/

Has anyone had any experience of this? Looks smart!

Says it’s permeable, I’m assuming that means it’ll soak up water/fish blood/sh1t etc. Not sure if it’s a good thing or not.

Looks very similar to what they use in kids playgrounds only applied thinner. Id imagine it looks good when first applied but would imagine it would look bad once worn & difficult to re do if needed

EDPM is used on flat roofs so is waterproof, but not meant as a floor covering.

I'm imagining it will 'fill-up' with sand, grime, and whatever else may come off your boots or over the side.

Be good to see some that's been down a while in a commercial environment.

I've seen this material used in an animal environment but it is on a base layer that itself drains so you can throw a bucket of water on it and it just disappears in seconds. Similar with rain... no puddles. Very impressive.

But on a boat with GRP deck it can't really work as intended because the water that migrates through it can't drain below so will have to build up and run away somehow.

I'd add from experience helping dad with larger craft... always think really really hard before using a pour on material to boat decking. Get it wrong and it looks dreadful with an onerous task to scrape off.

My firewall won't let me access the Rubbersmart website. I'm looking into putting PlasDeck on my rib.

I've emailed and asked if they could supply a small sample on a hard backing for evaluation.
Will call tomorrow if I don't hear back.

Rubbersmart replied promptly to me this morning by email, so credit to them there, and I've requested small samples of 3 different colours.

I'm hoping the Grey option might Compliment The Nashers Revenge's Yellow and White Tubes and Gelcoat nicely.
