Rubbing strake repair

A 30cm long section of my rubbing strake has been chewed up a little, whilst being tied up alongside a larger boat and rubbing against a metal eye attached to a fender. Is it possible to somehow reform the rubber where it has been damaged or do I need to replace it entirely? Wondering what the range of possibilities is here. Thanks.

Sorry I can’t offer a response but I’m also wanting to know if they can be repaired so I’ll sit quietly in the background and listen for answers.

Minor scuffs and scratches and in grained paint or discolouration ect can often be removed/ or at least improved by judicious wet sanding with wet and dry paper water and soap....
Big deep impact gashes can only be dealt with by replacing the complete rubbing-straik...I don't think you'd ever get away (cosmetically at least) with a join....and a job for the pros in my opinion.
But hey it would defiantly be alot worse if you hadn't had a rubbing straik visited in the first place...and ultimately that's what they are for

Thanks Maximus. Anyone have any idea of the cost to buy and fit a new one on an 8m Cobra?
