Rules on Boat Naming

Hi All
Does anybody now what the rules are for naming a boat/rib, Is it normal to name all boats/ribs? Do you have to register boat/rib name with any official body? If so, do you have to print name on boat/rib?

Any views on this would be appriciated.

Regards

Narcosis

Yes all Ribsters are required to name there boats after any song or Album I like. I guess you could call yours Freebird or CC Rider or from the state of you and Bob on Saturday mebbe Couldn't Stand The Weather or Cold Shot by SRV

the Rib can be registerd using a CG66 form with the Coatguards and you can also register your Baby on the SSR (Snall Ships Refister) SSR issues you with a Number which is required to be on the boat

I am not sure about pronting the name but it looks Kinda good if you do

http://www.mcga.gov.uk/c4mca/mcga-hm...-hmcg-cg66.htm

the rest of the site is worth a read

Kernow's boat is named "Blaster" which is quite cool, but unfortunately the old boy is a bit dyslexic so he's got "Blister" written on the thing! Bless Him

Our dive club used to have a rib called "Far Canal" with predictable radio results

There is a way of doing it "safely" ??
