Depends. No amount of lube would have helped with my case. The trunking was mostly clear and it wasn't friction stopping it.
End plug was getting snagged between the rigid steering cables through a bend even though I carefully streamlined it with the draw cable to the extent possible.
I exaggerate not. Threading a smaller temporary conduit had the job wrapped up in ten minutes. I had some 3/4" corrugated electrical trunking to hand, but think caravan waste water pipe, washing machine waste pipe etc would also have worked.
