RYA 2 Course south Cornwall recommendations?

hi All, looking to book my RYA2 course asap for early spring for myself and my 15 year old son. Can anyone recommend a good instructor / school in the area?

Is it possible to do the course on my own Rib? (VHF and Chart plotter equipped)

looking around on here https://www.rya.org.uk/wheres-my-nearest/ brings a few up but some have tribble reviews and tales of cancelations, lack of communications and dodgy equipment.

Any personal recommendation would be highly appreciative

If you want to use your own boat then you'll need somewhere where you can launch/recover at any state of the tide.
And offers courses all year round.
Think your nearest one is probably going to be Falmouth, in addition to being able to launch at all states from a concrete slip you're protected from the weather in the Fal.
No idea how good/bad they are though & you'll need to speak to them about using your own boat.

ETA Stithians Lake also comes up on your list, no issues with tides but reservoirs can be funny about power boats other than those provided for fishermen or used as safety boats by the sailing clubs that operate on them. Again, you'd need to give them a call.

If you are prepared to cross the border Simon Jinks at Sea Regs is your man. He used/ does examine the examiners. Very good man based in Plymouth.

Hi
I would not worry about doing it in your rib. If you can handle the generally larger craft they generally use then you are setup.
