RYA VHF Radio inc. GMDSS (G22)

I will be doing the VHF (short range) course soon and wondered what the RYA VHF Radio inc. GMDSS (G22, the blue cover) included.

I notice that the more comprehensive handbook (G31) is a available, but is it worth the extra?

Many thanks,
Max

Hi max I did mine in October last year using the GMDSS hand book G22, I suppose it will be what ever the instructor uses on the day. The book was handed out to us while actually doing the course.

Hope this helps,

Steve.

Hi Max,

G22 covers the syllabus and is a useful little reference book. I have people who come on courses with no prior experience - some read G22 in preparation and some don't. The ones who do find the course more straightforward and get more out of it, so I would recommend it.

G31 is good too. Better illustrated (G22 isn't exactly full of pictures) and a good read. If budget is important, the cheaper one will do the job for you but as with most things you get what you pay for and G31 has more content and is well- presented.

Ian
