At the end of May this year the world's top ten women kitesurfers are to make the first kitesurf crossing from the Isles of Scilly to Watergate Bay, Cornwall. A date has been arranged to fly the women into the country following an event on the world circuit in late May.
I am arranging the safety and support boat cover for the event and am looking people with large Ribs to help out. I currently have 2 Ribs 7m and 6.5m with 225hp and 200hp outboards and am looking for a couple of similar size boats that are available in the last week in May.
The Kite surfers are looking for a force 5 SW so the boats need to be able to travel at 20 knots in those conditions and have the ability to pick up and transport up to 3 of the women if required.
The 70 mile crossing, which is planned for May 2004, will raise over £10,000 for the RNLI and The Silke Gorldt Foundation and make the Guinness Book of Records for the largest kitesurf crossing.
