Out alone? In a sib? Money tight?
For those inshore, (cellular works up to 12miles from shore) an epirb or even a waterproof hand held VHF is perhaps too expensive.
However a £15 waterproof dry pack by "overboard" for example for your phone, hung around your neck, that can be used whilst in it (!) is surely a must for those out alone or rowing out in dinghy's particularly.
Please take a look and think!

I have just had from overboard a smartphone case with waterproof connector built in and an iPad dry bag.
They were a bit long winded with the deliver but I finally got them.
I'll tell you my thinking behind why I've purchased these other than keeping my toys dry and clean.
With the iPad I have as most of us the navionics plotter app and as the iPad has gps it doesn't need a phone signal to work as a stand alone colour plotter.
With the iPhone by association it has the same navionics app and gps to be a full blown plotter but when fitted into the waterproof bag with plug fitted it can be coupled to auto answer ear phones. The ear buds I have have the ability to listen to music which mutes on an incoming call and comes back when the call has finished
This setup gives me 2 backup colour plotter, a vast music data base and communication platform.
I can now send emails bills photos and catch calls from most of my working area without being near the office

I bought the life proof case which failed me big time on Friday out sailing gusting up to force 7 & ended up capsizing & in the drink phone in pocket not a problem its in the life proof case, get back to land & what do know water had got in to the phone & it is now back with Apple being fixed all being well!
It has been good at protecting the phone on a number of times from knocks but right cheesed off with it now as it isn't cheep

Not good. I have one but never had it in the drink yet. Now I am worried.

Hmmm that's the whole point! If I can't use it when dunked, I'll never get to dry land to complain!

Yes I have Idry too but got the life proof as I just wanted something to put it in & forget!
Hopefully Apple will fix it but it has cost me £126 so far + the cost of the case that was £65
Not very happy
