Nice RIB Midlife

I absolutely agree Steve, quite regularly it’s a mill pond on that stretch during summer months.

I should really know I’ve been staring at it for 6 years.

So what? Maybe that weather window doesn't happen the brief time of our holiday/visit? A bigger craft increases the number of weather opportunities and reduces risk.

It's the bits of sea around Start Point and between Hope Cove and Bolberry that concern me more than what I can see from the mouth of the estuary.

I agree with Midlife and like to have to have the reassurance of a more capable vessel in case of the unexpected. Overconfident or more experienced seafarers might get added thrill out of achieving more with less. That's not for us.

Not 100% why you’re getting your knickers in a twist on behalf of the OP?

The knicker elastic's too tight.

More seriously maybe my wife's fears are rubbing off on me but I have to take her feelings into consideration. I'm not going to force her into a situation she considers unsafe even if she's wrong. Tried on this very stretch and it backfired. If it's not enjoyable for her then there's no point in having a boat at all. That's why I sold my RG500 motorcycle soon after we married. She's worth it. Keep wife happy = keep boating. We don't go on holiday to go our separate ways.
