Scam? to good to be true?

So im in the process of buying a new rib & selling my thundercat. Ive found a nice 2008 AB 14vst with a yamaha 60 4 stroke on the back somewhere in bristol. This is on boats & outboards & ive contacted them saying i want to buy it! It costs £3100 & looks perfect! i ask for some more photos and they send me a link to their website. & it turns out this boat has never been used and still has the full warranty! When i go on there website theres loads of boats for incredibly cheap prices! Eg: a 1996 nautica 16ft 90hp jet rib in mint condition for £2600!!! i look for an address to see where in bristol they are but theres no address & i can find a telephone number anywhere??? theres only an email section Alot of the photos of the boats are in america too not the UK. lastly i little while ago i saw a avon searider on here with someone saying its a scam & the boats in america. & geuss what....i found the same boat for sale on this website!?

Has anybody heard of Craft bay before!?

this is the boat im looking at -
Craft Bay - New & used outboards, inboards, boats, jet skis, sporting goods & more at low prices!

Someone help!!! should i carry on until im sure if its legit or not?? i wont hand anymoney over till i see the boat and all the paperwork has been sorted! So would it be worth to carry on to find out?

They'll be called something else next week, B&O are sadly littered with scams, sometimes it'll be for a whole site like you've found or for a single Rib/outboard etc. if your not sure put the link on here someone will advise.

Looking at Craft Bay - New & used outboards, inboards, boats, jet skis, sporting goods & more at low prices! I notice the following:

How can you sell so cheap?
Answer: Craft Bay is known coast-to-coast as "The Alternative To Retail Prices". We accomplish this by volume buying and passing the savings onto the customer.

This should be cheaply, cheap is a US term as is coast-to-coast.

Will other dealers honor the warranties on motors sold by Craft Bay?

Honor is again US spelling.

Do you charge sales tax?

Sales tax is again US, we would call it VAT.

A lot of US terminology for a UK company!

Luke, Anybody selling boats will normally be happy to provide a physical address, and a phone number on their website - not having those is an immediate alarm bell. Be VERY suspicious of any boat transaction where they don't allow you to collect the goods. If the price is too good to be true it usually is.

If in doubt then something like: Craft-Bay.com - Craft Bay - New & used outboards, boats, jet skis, sCraft Baying goods & more at low prices! is a good start to check who owns the site (often someone outside the UK!). Searching for the registered owner can be interesting: Byron Baddoo - UK address and phone number - 192.com he does seem to exist... whether he knows he is the registered owner I don't know. If I was about to hand over a large sum of £ I'd have been tempted to give him a ring first.

At least you found out before you got scammed!

I know of a nice ribcraft 5.7m for sale that was only used when they were at the holiday home, trailer is ok with new wheel bearings 2002/3. Oh and it has a 1998/9 Honda 90 on it that has just been serviced by us hence why i know it will be for sale in the next few days. If interested call the workshop and we will give you more details.

I would love to but its too big for me my criteria is - has to be no more than 4.5 meters due to storage, has to realitivly light so i can hand launch it, have atleast 50hp and my budget is 3.5k...this is going to be impossible!

It won't, you'll get an SR4 with a two stroke and you'll love it, end up keeping it for years and when you sell it you'll regret it.

You can get a 4m SR with 40-50HP on it for that money, just keep lookin. Get rid of the thundercat so you have the cash ready to buy.

Have you considered a SIB BTW?

I'm curious what their actual scam is... presumably at some point they'll ask for a deposit and then vanish.

Squire, I do believe ( having checked out their site ), that they are actually looking for cleared funds before they even consider delivery "Anywhere In The World". I'm assuming that the word "consider" is a bit rich in this context.

No address, 'phone number, registration etc......., wouldn't surprise me to discover that this is terrorist based finance generator. It's the way they do it.

Do you remember, "Dear valued customer, we are reviewing our security, please enter your account details and we will update our systems." ?

Steer clear or meet them head on.
