Dear all,
My boat is up for sale on various internet sites. I was a little taken aback when I got this call from a London (0208) number.
Basically the gent on the phone told me he "had a buyer for my boat lined up" and that he was a finance company calling on behalf of his client.
He started asking about the condition of the boat, fairly basic stuff, nothing exciting. Do the tubes hold air etc.
Then he asked me if I'd take the asking price for the boat in within 5 days - doh yes!!!!!
Then he says to me "we need to guarantee the sale and the viewing". In order to do that he tells I need to hand over a refundable 100 notes so they "can be sure that I'll be present at the viewing and that the boat is in as good condition" as I say it is.
"Can I have your credit card number?"
I say not on your nelly and if you want to see it, tell me when and I'l be there. He hangs up on me.
Dodgy as f*ck if you ask me!!
Has this happened to anybody else??
Chris
