Scammed

Hi, if anyone recognises this rib, its supposedly a 2002 nautilus 6.5m with 2004 130hp Honda please let me know. It was advertised on ebay as being in Inverness, Scotland.

I have been defrauded out of £1,000.00 as the scum who was selling it has a bank account in Swindon!! The police are on the case and they will catch this person.

Sorry to read about your financial disaster, hopefully you will get your money back, if you do you should have a look at my ring 650 rib with a 150 mariner optimax, which is listed for sale on this site, it's in Scotland you can have had a run in it and then decide if you want to part with money, a big bit safer than Ebay, if it works out and are interested have a look at my advert and give me a shout
All the best
Regards Calum

Sorry you got scammed, but I doubt it was the actual owner of the rib that scammed you. Finding the rib wont do you any good, you need to find the person you paid the money to.

RIB BOAT 6.5M Nautilus With Honda 130Hp 4 Stroke Outboard Engine (with trailer) | eBay

Classic scam ad. The money is probably in Nigeria after being laundered through some unsuspecting fool's account.

Allways check feedback, the seller only had 5 positive for buying had not sold anything before, and the last time he bought owt was May 09.

But having said that it did look tempting, easy for me to talk after the event.

Good luck, I hope you get your money back

the advert sounds very genuine although I didn't read anywhere that the winner would have to pay a deposit it just said cash on collection .

Payment must be made in full before i arrange delivery. My preferred payment is cash on pickup or by direct deposit into my bank A/C.

Just there.

ok that sounds simple

but ime supposing the cash on collection part means that whoever turned up with 6k in there pocket would be going home empty handed or directed to pay a 1k deposit ?

Personally, I doubt whether the RIB and the person who has your money are related in any way whatsoever.

There are thousands of examples worldwide on a daily basis of people 'grabbing' images for the purposes of scamming.

You'd be better off tracing relevant phone numbers, IP addresses and bank accounts than trying to find the boat IMHO but, as has already been said, I fear your money has now left the country...

This forum has featured several instances of people attempting to carry out 'due diligence' on a rib advertised on the net only to find the person selling it, and the rib itself, strangely elusive...

If six people pay a £1k deposit on the same boat without seeing it, who needs to sell a boat?

Was this a lady whose husband had died by any chance and had moved back to Scotland?

Happy to do all paperwork transfers and you had x number of days through paypal to send it back at her cost?

Im confused, where is the scam ? advertised as being in scotland and person has a bank account in swindon ? so where is the scam ? is it fraud to advertise a boat somewhere other than where your bank account is ? the information provided does not speak of any kind of scam ?

All the clues were in the ad as shown, NEVER part with cash unless you are standing looking at it with docs to prove
