Scorpion 7.5m Rib Re-fit 2012

One of our winter projects was given the go ahead this week. It's a 7.5m Scorpion Rib full re-fit. As there is going to be a vast difference in before and after I thought it would be good to share them with Ribnet. Here is some shots as it is today. If you have any questions as we go through the re-fit just ask.

Hi Kieron

I am doing something very similar myself on a 6.5m Porters Renegade so will be watching with interest.

Yes it is, I went to see it with a view to buying it, shame to see a Rib like that looking so neglected, looking forward to seeing the results of Keiron's labours

It was listed on Ebay for quite some time; we are re-fitting it for a client who has been looking for a Scorpion but was unable to find one that fitted his needs.

It needs:
New tubes
A proper engine
Re-wire
Re-antifoul
Compound and polish
A few gel repairs
And new upholstery.

Tubes now removed.

The new outboard is going to be a Honda 225hp so we have now removed the unreliable Evinrude in preparation.

Didn't the eBay listing mention a cracked block on that Evinrude?

When you see it like that, with no tubes on, its really hard to see why a new Scorpion 7.5 is £60,000 plus?

Anyway, I really enjoy following these re-furb posts. Thanks for posting!

Well the boat was taken off its trailer to give good access to the hull, antifoul was stripped and re applied using black Hempel Hard Racing. We have taken care of a few gel repairs on the hull and once finished started work on a cut back and polish using 3M Imperial compound and finished with 3M cleaner / wax

The deck, topsides and consoles have also been buffed using the same method.

All of the stainless has been cleaned using Stainless steel and chrome polish .

The boat has now been covered whist the engine and tubes are fitted next week.
