Easy. They have no problem selling all the boats they can make. What more justification do you want?
You don't want to buy one, which is fine. I think most people have got the message now.

No Jk you have TOTALLY missed the point!!!
If I didn't have my boat I would seriously consider a Scorpion like in the photo below - a stunning boat.
My comments had nothing to do with my dislike for the way Scorpion treated me!!!
Even if that cabin RIB had been built by Pascoe or Revenger I would say the same. Firstly they are getting away from a true RIB and secondly I really can't see how they can justify charging so much for what is a pretty basic boat when compared to a Fairline or Hunton.

Have to say I agree to an extent, but as they simply charge what people are willing to pay maybe we should rephrase this thus:
"I really can't see why people are prepared to pay so much for what is a pretty basic boat when compared to a Fairline or Hunton."
p.s. Disclaimer: Hands up, I've never driven one either!

But its the same old arguement again..Why have a landrover when you can have a Range Rover, why shop at Asda when you can shop at Marks, why buy a 26 inch tv if you can afford a 50inch?
If people can afford to pick and choose between a plastic tub or a high quality rib such as a Scorpion or any other cabin rib so be it..
Life is a blast....work hard-play hard..

If you think a Hunton is a plastic tub you are VERY mistaken!!! They have a pretty good record in offshore powerboat racing - especially in the rough stuff!!!

Have a read of this months Rib International. It reviews the Arctic Blue 37 cabin rib. I am sure the Scorpion "Sting" is as good as or better.
It may change your mind....
ps if you can't find one, i'll send you my copy once i'm done....

Having owned a Scorpion and now a Hunton I can tell you they are both fantastic boats.
You only have to look at the Round Britain entrance list to see that both manufacturers are well represented. I'm sure Scorpion have the most boats and might be followed by Hunton. Also both company owners will be taking part.
I have driven in some rough seas in the Scorpion and always had full confidence it would more than cope. The Hunton seems to have a better ride than the Scorpion but this may well be due to length and weight.
They both have pro's and con's but the Hunton is a Great British boat, as is the Scorpion.
Cheers
Mark

I think Cods first reference to Hunton was more along the lines of Gin palace cabin cruiser rather than the racing thouroughbred. If you love using a rib all year round and you want a cabin, it makes sence to buy a "Cabin Rib" with some pedigree. Agreed they come at a cost, but the people buying them will love them and use them, and not leave them in the marina for ten months of the year.

How could you possibly justify that for the money?

I didn't suggest for a moment that they did.
Maybe you're the one missing the point? Or possibly getting a point that doesn't exist . . .

Or just further pointlessly fulminating in an indignant and self righteous rage about something. Anything.
I worry for Codders heart and blood pressure at times. I really do.

I would love a big cabin rib, but I think they loose some of the thrill of a small boat. Was out in a huge ocean dynamics rib with a cabin etc. Really impressive rough water handling but i felt it was as much fun as being on the fast ferry from Stranraer to Belfast. I think when it comes to ribs there is an optimum size and that is about 7.5-8 m

This month's Rib International mentioned that Shearwater will be producing a full cabin RIB (as opposed to their current small central cabin) in the future. still based on the 7 / 8 metre Ring hull
I expect it'll be a little more reasonably priced than the Scorp as well.

One of the main reason I went for a RIB in the first place was to get as much deck space as possible - having a cabin means you lose 1/2 the boat. I think the ideal design is a walkaround - maybe like the Protectors or the Shearwater but if you want a decent sized cabin and still be able to walk around it you need a big boat.

A Whiteshark or similar centre console would have been best for deck space. RIBs have fairly little for their hull length due to the narror internal beam.

i looked at the Shearwater before i bought charlie brown and there is no doubt its a good looking rib. although i havent seen it close. i gather its very good build quality too so all round its a good rib.
The article in Rib Intl does say it may not be suited to offshore cruising whereas i believe the scorpion is! (based on experience with my own)
i fear this has gone off topic now as they original question was about a particular scorpion cabin rib!
for what its worth, i would love a ride in a cabin scorpion. maybe one day i will be able to afford one!!
