It is bog ugly isn't it? I really don't know what crossed Graeme Jelly's mind on that one. And to sort of agree with Codders, but in a less indignant way if I had GBP175k to spend on a powerboat I'd probably go for something from these people: http://www.targa.fi/index2.php . In this I don't think I'm alone.

I agree Alan, Botnia Targa's have a great reputation and excellent resale value. Throuble is that they are a bit challenged in the looks department!

Funnily enough I was going to mention one of those - a great walkaround with a good cabin - they do look pretty yuch though!!!

Hunton 37 from £194k + VAT.
Sealine SC35 not much less.
Perhaps the Scorpion is not so expensive after all?
Can't afford either but have driven a Hunton 36 and it is on the wish list should funds ever allow.
Have driven most Fairline Targas 29/30/33/34/37/38 and the Hunton is in a different league - but hardly has any accommodation!
Not driven a Cabin Scorpion.
The Targas from Finland are pretty good sea boats as well. The space between the hull moulding and the interior mouldings is foam filled, on the smaller ones at least. This makes them very quiet under way - and contributes to them feeling safe and substantial. So often when at sea on a cruiser it's the sound of the crockery rattling around / drawers opening / head lining panels coming down that limits how hard you feel you can press on - rather than just the hull shape!

£20,000 difference isn't a lot when you are talking that sort of money. Huntons are also relatively expensive because they are so low volume. Look at something like a Cranchi Endurance 39 or 41 - same money as the Scorpion and somewhere to park your jetski - a lot more boat for your money!!!
Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that Scorpion cabin rib if that's what you want - you just don't get very good value.....

i have to agree with searider whether you have a Fairline 38 or a Princess 50
try and press on in big seas and you will smash the boat up from the inside.
so its a compromise, big boat more accommodation slower speed in rough seas .
Cabin rib very very Quick able to go out in all most any conditions
but limited space. As for the Huntons it didn"t do it for me the quality was there but was it just a big boat with a big toilet in the consul, with a sort of lounge seating layout
i bet it looks great in the med or long Island but Cowes on a dull day ?

I think the Scorpion Cabin ribs are superb and if one was spending around £200000 on a boat, they would surely try and test a variation of different craft.
If i had that sort of money to spend on a luxury item it just might be "The Sting"

To be honest I would buy a used boat - £200,000 opens up all sorts of possibilities. Maybe a nice Aquastar 46 - awesome in the rough. Or an old trawler yacht - or even an Arun 52 ex RNLI......

Ye...but codders does have a good point, anyhow if you fit the same goodies in a Scorpion cabin rib as you would find in a nice gin palace the same problem I am sure would occur
