Scupper/trunk 5.8m Ribeye..Advice please!

Folks,
Ive got a 5.8m ribeye (2001) which has a 50mm ball type scupper, below the water line... its pants !!
I guess that the inner rubber /plastic gland has perished, as a result when stationary water is coming in .
In a few weeks time Ive got a mooring on the coast..need to sort this.

Do I ...
a) Buy a new ball type scupper.?
b) Buy an elephant trunk system?
c) Bung up the hole manually with a ball and shammy cloth when moored up?

Any advice would be helpful.!!

Cheers Jarvo.....

if you do a search here I think most with these type of scuppers find they leak like a sieve.

problem is they are fuine until some dirt gets into the valve seat - which is inevitable as you will carry dirt aboard on your shoes.....

Trunks are good - and also dump a lot of water very quickly. The scary bit is cutting the 70 odd mm hole (s) in your transom! (Again do a search - plenty of discussion on it)

If you can lead the drop cord(s) to somewhere near the helm you can also operate it (them) by "remote control".

Personally, I'd be tempted to loose the ball thing completely & either fill the hole "properly" or replace it with a drain bung (sort ofg thing you talke out if you leave it on a trailer, but it;s in when afloat) of some description.

RIBase
Buy some wooden bungs. My self draining deck flap valves leak like a swine and the softwood bungs worked great for me.
