Sea Survival Course for Ribnet Members

We have been trying to herd cats on the island and get everyone who is interested or has a need in doing the Sea Survival for six months now and this would give them the impetus to get organised.

I really really want to done one and have two people in the company who also need to, that makes it:

Alderney Marine x3

If you can confirm a price please Doug, I will get straight onto the locals.

Current price is £83-£89 per person depending on when booked

This will be going up in January both due to VAT and other costs increasing (pool hire, raft re pack etc).

Martin
Come back to me with numbers and I will give you a group price. The course can take up to 16, although we often have 2 courses running on the same day. If we can get 16 ribbers then we can tailor the day a bit more towards ribs. If not I will top up the course with yachties.

Excellent.

I suspect there may not be time to beat the VAT increase, but I would be very surprised if we cannot fill at least one 16 person course.

Sadly January is out for me due to hospital recuperation blah blah - but Darren would be interested and I'd happily come along and watch (if allowed)

Thanks Doug

Cheers Neil, that makes the tally:

Malthouse x3
Mr KY x1 (+Spectator)
NeilH x1

11 Places remain.

The cost is £79 to regular RIBnet members, £85 otherwise. (The 2010 price for this course is £99)

Course date is likely to be early March or late Feb, suggestions please.

Once again, thanks Doug

Any suggestions about places to stay nearby for those of us who will be traveling (probably by RIB)?

Correction, 76 pounds not 79.

There is a price reduction for 9 or more, I think, but I am sure that will become clearer as names are added.

KY, would you mind being treasurer for this?

Martin - no problem being treasurer

I also have a well used Paypal account if that makes paying easier for anyone

If we can delay until March then I might be able to also take part - or at least in some of the activities - but please don't hang on for me if a better time suits all.

Doug/Martin - can you give a break down of the format and training - it sounds great

OK lets be up front with the pricing.

Ribnet members discount £69 a head if the group size is 15-16

Alternativly £76 of group size is 9-14

Price includes certification, handbook and vat.

Dates wise- I would like to try and run a totally Ribnet course so that we can tailor it a bit more to RIBs. Although we run 3 or 4 of these a month the next one that is empty (and can therfore be reserved for Ribnet) is Easter saturday.

What do you guys think, is this a good date or bad? If not popular I can look at something sooner, just need to book some more pool slots.

Perhaps once a date has been agreed we can all pay the lower amount on the understanding that we might need to pay the extra on the day?

As for dates Easter is a no go for us and Sunrise. Generally speaking any holiday is difficult to get away for and would remove the option of flying too. Sorry if that is problematic for others.

It may be that a RIBnet only course is too tricky to fit in?

I've got lots of holiday to take before the end of the financial year so weekdays would be good for me too (providing they don't clash with meetings I can't get out of!)
Cheers
Neil
