Searider 5.4 trolling motor Transom mount possible?

Went through 7 pages of searches under "trolling motor searider" with no luck...

Does anyone out there have a trolling motor mounted on the transom next to their 50/70/90 outboard? Trying to see if there is enough space or how they mounted it? Reinforced transom? Or is the trolling motor light enough to not need to reinforce?

Or if not a troller do you have a smaller HP outboard as a backup?

I'm looking at this cheaper 86 lb thrust Newport but not sure if the 40" shaft is too long.

Or a smaller outboard if someone has figured out how to rig that but I don't think there is enough space.

I read about measuring the right length shaft so I'll do that but sometimes it's best to ask the community their opinion first because it can make things a lot easier.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Surfnride, Don't use a troller motor here on West Coast Scotland but have a standby 4-stroke 5Hp mounted and its plenty to drive safely, does not get in the way. The prop works well and being off to the side cleared the V hull earlier than if set centrally. I strengthened the transom partly to add thickness and reduce the need for packers with a high density resin board to both faces. See what you think and hope this assists. Iain

Frankly Im amazed that both have enough room to be used independenrly and you have a 75 and a 5 vs my 50 and a trolling.

So basically Im definitely good to go. Maybe throw a little reinforcement on there if needed.

Thanks Lain. Much appreciated!

I wanted to mount a small aux on my 4m Searider. Experimented with various options, in the end concluded a small aux bracket was the way forward (space on the SR4 is very limited).

Found the following on eBay for less than £50. Chopped it down to make it a bit narrower. Aux fits on there a treat and allows full travel of main engine (50 Yam)

I have mounted without any bracket a Yamaha Malta 2s, which I am told is 4hp next to my old but quite small 60 Mercury 2s. It’s a good arrangement but probably is only possible because the mercury is small. The boat is a Tornado5 mtr.

The little Long shaft Malta is a lovely thing and runs very smoothly. Dave
