Cool, my mother, sister and brother live on the lower mainland.
I'm leaving this morning for a couple of days to go from Pointe Du Bois into Eaglenest L., Echo L. & Crowduck L. (via the Winnipeg River system). Will take a bunch of pictures (I've posted some in the "ice is off" thread).
Will be doing some bear hunting with the longbow, good luck with the surf hunting. Are they in season ?
hiya boatster, i was wondering how long it takes you to get out to the islands and what kind of conditions are doable in a 4m? i just hug the coast up to hollister but would love to be able to get out to santa cruz and do an
overnighter. any tips?
Hi Pete7 - thanks for the interest in the circumnavigation. I still find I would rather play around on boats than write about them, but there are a few pages available about the voyage. One source is a collection of articles originally printed in Motor Boating & Sailing Magazine (and others); I've found them via an online magazine article search using EBSCO at my local library. Another source was a summary printed in RIB Magazine a few years ago - I seem to have lost my last copy so don't have the date, but perhaps someone has a copy in your area. It was around the time of the first RIBEX. Also, there is a chapter in the book "Against the Sea" that summarizes the trip (no pictures though). And I wrote some pages recently for the new Inflatable Boats Magazine but will probably not be doing any follow-up articles. If you have any areas of specific interest please let me know and I would be happy to reply.
This thread was originally about a SeaRider so I want to mention I also have a 5.4 that will eventually find it's way back to the water - needs a console and power. I've never been in one and am eager to see how it handles after all the positive discussion here on the forum. It may not be this summer though because I just got an ex-military 30' RIB that will stretch my credit cards for a while until I'm ready to sell it....no time for writing! see ya...

The lifelines came with the boat like that. I did add the little tie dots on the bow though. I just used 2 part hypalon glue.
I'm actually beginning to consider painting some sections of the tubes on my new sr5.4 though. I guess I'm realizing that I can't afford new tubes anytime soon. I gots to do what I gots ta do. BTW GaviotaPete, Inland Marine also sells a type of tube paint that is polyurethane based yet flexible enough for the expansion and contraction of the tubes. How long it will last and wear is the real question.
Why don't you post some pics of your sr4? Is it a center console or does it have the windshield and bucket seats?
