Outstanding restoration on the boat, his seamanship is fine imo apart from - camping on the beach..... well worth watching!
At least they got the rib to safety with no major harm done. I'm looking forward to the next instalment!

It is a fun series but even he admits to bodging it a bit - not sure that transom will last long with all the holes and what looks like bathroom silicone....!

And agree re the seeming lack of prep but then I guess if you don't have any commitments then why not just see where the adventure takes you - I think it's pretty exciting really, looking forward to seeing how he gets on!

Going round the UK seemed an easy proposition back when Goodwin was still in the workshop.
Part 1 of the trip is on YouTube, part 2 coming soon... Not sure how many parts there will be. It is 1700 miles. Link in bio

Oh man, was thinking what a great bit of drone work and editing but the whole exclusion zone/zero passage planning sequence ...

I think this is great. Remember, they’re new to this and he’s making similar schoolboy errors that most of us will have made with our first boat. Just that his learning curve is considerably steeper than most others! Best of luck to him -especially when the weather changes. Oh....and if anyone knows whether he made it or not, please DO NOT post here!

+1.

I was shouting NO! at the screen when I saw the hole cutter come out for the bilge pump fitting.

I think this is quite apparent with the difference between part 1 and part 2.

Every day's a school day....

I think these guys are doing just fine, and good luck to them on their onward journey............although I must say they have had perfect seas so far.
Now the testing bit begins to arrive-rounding Lands End and the journey up the Irish Sea.
And thats just for tasters!
Still they seem a well adjusted pair, they have had good land support, no worries so far mentioned about lack of money and they seem to have good engineering skills.
So, more power to their elbows.

Well said that man, it looks like a wonderful thing to undertake and so good that the tech allows for them to have such a great record of it and share it with so many.

Only thing that really had me concerned was that little chap at Brighton on the pontoon with no lifejacket and wearing a pair of wellies.

I wish them fair seas ahead.

Absolutely loving this.

The camera work and drone sequences are fantastic, certainly gives an overview of the coastline. The music is good too, better than the constant drone of an engine at full chat. That Honda 30hp does well.

I'm not going to be critical, as we've all made schoolboy errors. Couple of things to note, fuel points once heading into Scotland will be interesting, plus the weather is still pretty calm. Their bodies must be taking a hammering on those seats.

Sorry, forgot the drone bits.
They are fantastic aren't they?

What is he using? A Mavic?

Yep massively entertaining... Mrs F and I really enjoyed watching it on the TV last night.

As Spartacus says the weather for future legs will be key. Mrs F commented we haven't had sea that calm in our past 5yrs outings. When it kicks up rough things will soon change from their current jolly boys outing attitude.

Their enthusiasm is infectious. How many of us would love to do this and life/excuses/time gets in the way.

I wonder how long it will last.

I wonder how long they will wait between part 1 and 2. It they launch the following day and continue like that for the whole trip I suspect they won’t make to Scotland. If on the other hand they wait a week or however long it takes to regain some enthusiasm and wait for perfect weather conditions then they may well make it all the way round. There will be a lot of travelling on land if they do it that way though.

I enjoyed watching the 2nd part but my heart dropped seeing that young lad running around on the dock with wellies and no life jacket. How come they are doing a section by road and not continuing round the coast by sea?

This guy should be on the tv! Very good at editing etc, he really knows how to put a good bit of footage together with music together. Great mix of go pro and drone footage (phantom 4) shame he couldn’t outrun the range safety vessel we alway do when they’re out on our firing range (slaps oneself on the wrists)
