The huge tech input kind of destroys the budget boating concept regardless who paid for the kit. I enjoy watching the series myself However I do think the 4m boat looks overburdened by gadgets now.

However as this is surely a commercial venture with regards youtube revenue and Harry’s other works I suppose the temptation to take sponsorship from the instrument companies is pretty hard to resist.

When it’s over the circumnavigation that is I am sure a lot of this kit will find it’s way onto larger vessels.

All that kit must be worth a lot more than a ratty old 4m sea rider. If it was sponsored and gifted to the project it would be really nice if Harry could auction it off for the benefit of the RNLI.

Looking forward to the next episode myself.

>>>surely a commercial venture

It seems this adventure plays to both Harry's strengths and interests perhaps with the income nature of it quite secondary... and as such he has a very casual approach to the whole thing which for me is a great part of the appeal. He is not trying to be an against all odds guy doing round the UK on a paddle board with a litre of water and two sandwiches.

This slightly carefree modest approach makes it work as "good TV".

Good luck to the guy/guys.

Whatever he can procure along the way, happy days.

My only disappointment is seeing the subject heading here, clicking on the latest thread and there not being an update to watch.

Come on Harry, give the people what they want!!!

Hopefully he has amassed a huge amount of content to keep us happy all winter long.

Have you any idea how much time and money Harry would have spent to make this project happen...editing alone will take hours...so from my point of view he owes nobody nothing....not even the RNLI. The fact that the likes of Raymarine have jumped on board shows just how good this series is...proper boys own stuff.Just my opinion but he deserves anything that comes his way.

It’s a commercial project. Entertaining but no different from a lot of tv output.

If you think youtube is just for fun you have missed the last decade of channels becoming extremely successful financially.

Finally nobody said “Harry” owed anybody anything, simply that it would be nice if the rescue services could benefit a little from the final disposal of the gifted items when the project ends.

For all we know it may just be loan items etc.

As your so concerned for Harry nice chap that he appears to be why don’t you send a fiver to him. Or better still a tenner to the RNLI

I have a youtube channel and I'm quite aware what you can and can't make from viewing revenue....Harry will not be generating enough income to call this a commercial project. You show me one youtube series about ribbing that has this quality of content.
As for my RNLI donations I'm a member...enough said.
You know what they say " stand up and be counted " or just be grateful 🙏

This is getting a bit heavy for ribnet, I've always thought we are all a like minded group of gentlemen.

Fascinating episode, I’ll link up this old topic as it ties in nicely. This was a local exhibition a few years ago.

Yep a great episode... various non-boaty programs have visited the college but Harry's coverage was way better.

At 40:16 into this video I thought he had possibly some footage of tuna busting but on second view I think its seabirds taking flight? Probably a bit murky up there for tuna but who knows? I've been seeing them a lot this year.

Just what I needed. Storm Irwin, Malik and Corrie in the space of two months and power off each time. Roll on spring.

Interesting episode.
